What a fabulous finish to the ADONZ - Association of Dispensing Opticians of New Zealand Conference 2025! Our presentation may have been the last of the lectures on the agenda, but it was so well received by the delegates that attended. Full credit goes to our Gaz, Gary Devlin for his astounding delivery, you absolutely nailed it with such confidence and professionalism, as if you'd been public speaking for years - nobody would have guessed that was your first time at the podium. So when a Customer asked if we would glaze a frame that no other labs wanted to touch, of course we took on the challenge...
That frame though... 😮
Let's just say the frames on their website are... "different"... 😁

Latest little test for us just completed.
We have done this previously from an Australian supplier, (who ordered from the UK), was done as a saddleback previously, this time we tested our American supplier who manufactured in a traditional looking lens. (With normal back curve).The results stunning, and to help a little girl see is what make this special for us.
Not everyone can fit in the box.

To have access to the knowledge to even know where to ask for this prescription is what makes Visual Optics your specialty out of the box specialist.

We love it when a customer comes to us with a challenge to fit +6.50 lenses to a frame and clip combination. The challenge being the lenses have a relatively high plus power front curve, where they could potentially make contact and rub against the back of the clip-on lenses.
With a combination of 'digital lenticular thinning', manufacturing lenses super thin, and shifting the bevel as far forward as possible.. the results speak for themselves! Heaps of clearance between lenses and clip-on and one very happy patient. 🤗

Visual Optics specialises in supplying and glazing outside range and extreme prescriptions. It also offers unique onsite handcrafted custom glazing from its specialised fitting technicians. Bevel position can make or break how good lenses will look in a frame and we go the extra mile to ensure we glaze these for the best possible finish for the patient. All our lenses are hand fitted and inspected individually – you may call us old fashioned, but we prefer to call it tailormade. ;)
