Are you ready for the winter sports season? ❄️

One of the most important steps you can take to perform well and reduce your risk of injury is a proper warm-up.

Before hitting the field or going out on court, focus on gradually increasing your heart rate and using dynamic movements to prepare your muscles and joints for the demands ahead. This helps improve flexibility, coordination, and overall performance.

While no routine can completely prevent injuries, good preparation plays a key role in keeping you safer and performing at your best.

Don’t skip the warm-up—your body will thank you!

Anzac Day 25th April

Lest we forget.

A time to reflect as we pause to remember the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the ANZACs who served and gave so much for our future. Their legacy lives on in the freedoms we enjoy today.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Koru Wellness Osteopath Clinic will be closed on Monday 27th April to observe the public holiday in respect for Anzac Day and reopen on Tuesday 28th April.

The weather has taken a marked turn for the worse, with increasingly wet and cold conditions signalling the approach of winter.

We are grateful that we have not had to endure the distressing events experienced by our North Island neighbours, and this serves as a timely reminder to remain mindful of those who may be less fortunate than ourselves.

This week also provides an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made in years gone by, and to acknowledge the devotion of friends, family, and those who came before us, whose efforts have helped ensure that we are able to live together in relative safety.
Our reception area has been displaying a soldier this week, reminding both staff and clients to remember the hardships of all those that sacrificed everything for the country we live in.
Along with all Australians, New Zealanders will be preparing for ANZAC services this weekend.
If you can, take the time to attend one of the many services in your area, they are extremely moving.

Do you have trouble going to sleep?
Are you waking up still feeling tired? Can an osteopath help you?

Osteopathy and sleep patterns are more connected than most people realize. Osteopathy takes a whole-body approach, meaning it looks at how your muscles, joints, nerves, and circulation all influence functions like sleep.

Reducing physical discomfort is one way of addressing a sleep issue.
If you have back pain, neck stiffness, or joint issues, these can disrupt your sleep cycles. Osteopathic treatment uses hands-on techniques to relieve tension and improve alignment, making it easier to fall and stay asleep.

Improving circulation and breathing can also help.
Restricted movement in the ribs, spine, or diaphragm can affect breathing efficiency. Osteopathic techniques can have a significant influence by improving
chest expansion - supporting better oxygen flow and reducing shallow or disrupted breathing at night.
This is especially helpful if you experience light sleep or frequent waking.

Addressing stress and tension is also important.
Physical tension often mirrors mental stress. By releasing tight tissues, osteopathy may indirectly reduce anxiety levels, which is a major factor in insomnia.

Our team here at Koru Wellness aim to get you sleeping well again!

Mums and Babies

It is not unusual to hear the sounds of a baby just a few days old in our reception area or emanating from one of the clinic rooms.

Our mum and baby package has really taken off.
And at only $145.00 both mum and baby are treated over an hour long appointment, allowing the osteo to treat both parties , dividing the time as required.

Both Matthew and Sarah show a keen interest in treating mum and baby and the results are speaking for themselves.
Midwives refer many of their clients to us and the feedback has been phenomenal.

So if your baby is having trouble settling , has colic or something else you are concerned about - try a mum and baby session.

Call on 03 599 8050 to book an appointment or just want to have a chat regarding any other queries.

Daylight savings ends this weekend - YES - April 5th
Hard to believe it is time to switch back the clock already.

Yes it feels like Autumn but if you are like me - it hardly feels like we had a summer!
Autumn is the cool down period of the year, before the full on winter begins. It helps the earth to reset and allows the ground to breathe and prepare for the rejuvenation that the coming months bring.

If you are feeling like you need a reset too, then maybe a visit to your local osteopath clinic will give you some relief and help you to head towards rejuvenation as well.
