Daylight savings! Are you still getting used to the change in time? ⌚

Sleep is essential for our health and well-being. 💤We are less likely to be focused on tasks and have less energy to function fully. Sleep deprivation can cause us to lose concentration, make mistakes, and it can have an effect both mentally and physically.

How can we help? Come in and have an osteo session; it can help you relax, improve tension in your muscles, which may help you get a great night's sleep.

Time to move your clocks forward an hour.

During sports and life activities, injuries are bound to happen and often result in significant pain, discomfort, and disruption of normal life. Most injuries are avoidable. However, some are not.

We want to share some tips with you to help prevent injury and keep you living your best life.

Tip 1: Stay hydrated. Try to average around 2-3L of water per day and keep your tissues and brain sharp and strong. 💧

Tip 2: Get quality sleep. Most adults require around 7-9 hours of sleep to perform at their best. Sleep is also when your body repairs and regenerates. 💤

Tip 3: Follow a balanced diet to refuel your body (check out Health New Zealand's guidelines for activity and eating). 🍎

Tip 4: Remain active. Performing daily activities such as walking, biking, running, and resistance training can help you remain strong and protect against injuries. Just make sure to gradually expose yourself to these activities and avoid going all in too quickly.🏃‍♀️

Tip 5: Stress management. Managing stress levels is important for psychological and physical health. Stress can be managed via the tips explained above, breathing exercises, participating in enjoyable activities, and having a rest day. ☺️

🦴What is osteoarthritis? 🦴Osteoarthritis is a progressive joint disease that can affect many joints in the body, such as the hands, spine, knees, and hips. Osteoarthritis has many contributing factors, including previous joint trauma, joint overload, diabetes, thyroid issues, and obesity. Some symptoms of osteoarthritis are joint stiffness, joint pain, grinding sensations within the joints, and reduced range of motion.
What can I do if I have osteoarthritis?🤔
- Remain active and strong (it's never too late to start). 🏃🏋🏾‍♀️
- Don't panic. Osteoarthritis is very common, even in those with no pain.
- Seek professional help. Osteopathy can help reduce joint stiffness and pain.

Our osteopaths are trained to diagnose and manage osteoarthritis. If you're sick and tired of joint pain, make an appointment with one of our great team members. Call 03 599 8050 or book online at https://www.koruwellness.co.nz to make an appointment.

We are reminded of Spring with all the beautiful daffodils blooming around us. A time when we feel more energised and maybe thinking about starting a new fitness regimen. We need to remember to care for our bodies while we take on these extra challenges and having an osteo treatment can help prepare us.

Daffodil Day is Friday August 29th, reminding us of all those who have or are going through cancer. Daffodil Day helps us to focus on all those who are affected by cancer - friends, family, acquaintances and is also a timely reminder to everyone to take time out to care for yourselves.

So let's hit the ground running, get out there, do a little exercise, relax, unwind and live life to the full. And if you need a little help from us to relieve any niggles then give us a call on 03 599 8050 or make an appointment online at https://www.koruwellness.co.nz/
