🎀🎄🥰A huge thank you and Merry Christmas to Andrew and the team from the Warkworth branch of Rapid Relief Team NZ, who dropped in 24 boxes of Christmas goodies and treats for us to distribute among our less fortunate hospice patients and families. Christmas should be a special time of year for everyone, says Andrew, and he hopes the gift boxes will give our families "a real boost" this Christmas. We couldn't agree more Andrew! 🥰

🏌️‍♀️🏌️🏌️‍♂️Last week we held our 2025 Harbour Hospice Golf Day at the North Shore Golf Club and what a day it was! A full field of 37 teams, lots of great shots played and heaps of heart and connection.

Thank you to each and every person who sponsored the day, entered a team, played or donated prizes, auction items and/or silent auction items. Because of everyone coming together, we raised an incredible $55,000 (net result), all of which will help support local patients and families in Harbour Hospice care.

To be there for our community, we need our community, & it’s events like this, and people like you, that ensure we can continue to provide free, specialist, palliative care services.

A big thank you to golfing legend Ryan Fox who dropped in for a special Q&A session and happily posed for many photos and signed many autographs - MC Jenny Woods linkedin.com/in/jenny-woods-mediavoice/ and auctioneer extraordinaire Aaron Ward rwremuera.co.nz/team/agents/aaron-ward/ plus our generous sponsors Rothbury Insurance Brokers, Korbond Industries NZ, Golf HQ, Shine On, South River Wines, Taylor's Port Wine, Torpedo7 🙏🙏

We welcome all family and whānau into our Inpatient Unit, including furry family members. This is Tommy, who was in to see his grandma today. At 16 years old, he is in his twilight years and suffers from a little bit of arthritis, so he usually likes to have an afternoon nap at his grandma's feet, and to sit with her while she eats dinner.

As you can imagine, Tommy is very popular with our staff and volunteers, and luckily for us he is very social. Tommy is always up for a tummy rub!

Christmas is just round the corner, bringing with it some meaningful ways you can support Harbour Hospice this festive season! 🎄🎀⭐

⭐ Order your delicious Christmas cake by The Great New Zealand Christmas Cake Company. Every sweet treat sold generates a donation for Harbour Hospice.

⭐ Visit your local Farmers store to purchase a special collectible Christmas tree bauble.

⭐ Honour loved ones who can't be with us this year through our Trees of Remembrance. Visit a tree at your local Farmers store or one of our pop-up locations (from 11 Dec) to write your tribute to a loved one and donate to Hospice. https://harbourhospice.org.nz/event/trees-of-remembrance/

It’s thanks to your support of Christmas fundraisers like these that we can continue to provide care for families in our community, free of charge, every day of the year. ⭐

Supporting families and whānau in their grief and bereavement is an important part of the work we do. Each year we hold remembrance services for those whose loved ones died in our care in the past 12 months. We held the first of this year's services last night at our North Shore site, Kārohirohi.

It was a beautiful evening, brought to light by Maya and Haya, from Rangitoto College, who sang for us, and Mateo and Mariana who played the violin and keyboard. Readings were spoken in different languages, highlighting the multi-cultural nature of the communities we work in.

As we always do, we lit the candles of Love, Peace and Hope then each of our families lit candles for their loved ones and spoke their name.

Next week will be services at our Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth/Wellsford sites, and we hope that these will be just as beautiful for those families.

Remember our gorgeous patient Norman? 🥰 We introduced him to you a couple of years ago because at 95 he was/is one of our oldest patients, and also the only current patient we'd ever had show their art in a hospice fundraiser, that we'd had on at the time. Norman has had a great life and even been a small-town hero at one point, after sending gang members packing when they tried to rob him. His story really resonated with you. (Here it is again: https://bit.ly/3vdWYjS)

Well, this week it's Norman's 97th birthday!!!! 🎂🎈🎁🎉 We've been celebrating with cake that our lovely volunteer Pam brought in. Norman still comes in to see us every week for Day Respite and he was chuffed to arrive this week and have everyone sing happy birthday to him.

Happy birthday Norman! We hope you have a wonderful day on your actual birthday on Saturday, too! 🎂🎈🎁🎉

HAPPY HELPERS! This month our teams at our Milford, Takapuna and Link Dr shops were joined by these fabulous people from WTW. They spent the day learning about our services then helped out in our shops - doing a great job of sorting the Christmas decorations!

Our shops are an integral part of our fundraising efforts - bringing in around half our annual fundraising needs - so every time we have an organisation come in to volunteer it helps us spread the word!

Thank you WTW! And thank you for your support! Every $ you spend and every item you donate to our shops goes towards helping the one in three people in the community that we provide specialist palliative care for.

🎄Hospices across NZ are very fortunate to have the ongoing support of Farmers. Every Christmas Farmers designs and creates a limited-edition Christmas bauble that's sold instore, with 100% of proceeds going to hospice. They've been running this generous initiative 12 years and in that time raised an incredible $9 million for hospices across the country.

🎄This year's bauble features sprigs of holly - a well-known symbol of Christmas representing protection, good fortune, eternal life and resilience. The baubles are available instore now for $15.99 each, & all proceeds stay local so if you purchase a bauble from Farmers Shore City, Farmers Home store in Albany, Farmers Glenfield or Farmers Silverdale, the funding will come to Harbour Hospice.

🎄Farmers also offers the opportunity to write a card in memory of a loved one on their Trees of Remembrance, and all donations made with the card go straight to hospice, too.

A huge thank to everyone for supporting our 2025 Homes & Gardens Tour in Point Wells on Sunday! Despite the weather refusing to cooperate, the event was a resounding triumph - and that simply wouldn't have been possible without the support we had. 🎉🎉

A total of 565 ticket holders turned out to tour 12 spectacular homes and gardens & many more popped into the Point Wells Community Hall where we had stalls, food and coffee carts. We were worried the rain might put some of you off, but it didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s spirits at all! We saw lots of smiling faces and there was a real feeling of connectiveness. 🫶

The event raised an incredible $80,000 for Harbour Hospice, which will make a very real difference to the lives of our patients and their families and whānau. 🙏

A special thank you to our Principal Partners Bayleys in the North and Jodi Sterling - Bayleys Matakana Coast and our wonderful sponsors Diamond Fusion Glass Protection Northern NZ, Mason Containers LTD., AGS Auckland Garden Services, Rochford Landscapes , Matakana Coast App, Northland Waste Warkworth, Shine On

Thank you to each of our generous home owners, all those who volunteered on the day, Lisa at FLORA Flowers who donated hundreds of plants and seedlings to sell then 100% of the proceeds from their sales as well, Warkworth Butchery NZ, who donated 100% of the proceeds from their barbeque, and Wildly, Madly, Deeply who created & donated the beautiful flower arrangements for each home.

It takes the combined efforts of so many to bring an event like this to life. We can’t thank you enough for being part of that amazing fundraising effort.
