Yesterday we had our first lesson for the For Her Foundations first ever cohort.

Such a beautiful space to working in these wāhine left and I feeling so inspired.

For our first week we looked at Ko Wai Au? Who am I? We looked at labels that we carry some given from ourselves and others from society. When you’ve experienced adversity often a lot of shame comes through the recovery process and that very shame can support relapse, self sabotage or self harm.

In yesterday’s session we first acknowledged those labels and then we focused on moving out of them and moving towards who we desire to come and what will help us get there by setting some supportive goals.

Lots of cackles were had, tears and hugs.

Honoured, grateful and privileged to do this meaningful work with such strong women.

Have a look at one of the wahines future self ~ this wahine is recovering from a childhood trauma, m**h addiction and working on getting her son back. I don’t see anything but her potential and I wholeheartedly believe she will achieve this.

We don’t rush growth here.

We build it layer by layer through connection, confidence, capability and opportunity.

Structure creates safety, and safety creates change.

Domestic violence isn’t always obvious.

Many wāhine don’t often realise they are experiencing abuse because it doesn’t match the stereotypes they’ve seen.

Grateful to shout out our sponsor Kaal’s Kitchen 🥰

Laura is an old friend of mine who I grew up with and she will be catering our graduation celebration for the first cohort in our For Her program.

Celebration is just as important as the actual journey and Kai is a great way to ground the process.

Thank you for those who are supporting the vision and helping on the journey of empowering wāhine and rangatahi.

Today I was grateful to have a meeting with Dress for Success and hear all about their kaupapa, the beautiful mahi they do, their wider services and a tour of their space.

Dress for success provides practical employment support like professional clothing, underwear (new and quality), accessories, makeup and so much more but the best part is they stock 6-30 talk about inclusive! We love to see it!

Alongside dressing wāhine they also help with interview preparation, confidence building, mentorship and help remove barriers.

This partnership creates a beautiful and holistic experience for wāhine coming through our space.

Grateful for aligned partnerships and just incredibly inspired 🤍🤍🤍
