✨Farewell✨

We are sorry to announce that Dr Sarah Ballam has resigned from her position as General Practitioner at Amuri Healthcare Centre. Sarah’s last day of work will be the 5th February 2026.

Sarah started work at Amuri Community Healthcare Centre in January 2021. She initially worked three days a week and then dropped down to a day a week around a year ago.

We are in the process of recruiting a full time General Practitioner. In the meantime, we will continue to provide five day a week General Practitioner/Nurse Practitioner care at the practice provided by our long-term locums: Dr Kevin Gattey, Dr Richard McCubbin, Dr Lauren Roycroft and Nurse Practitioner Sharron Bonnafoux. This team are very ably supported by our very experienced Nursing team.

Telephone Prescription charges increases
Please note from 12 th January 2025
Prescription’s will increase to $25 for over the phone requests.
Same day URGENT prescription’s will increase to $40.
Please allow plenty of time for arranging an appointment or requesting prescriptions to avoid disappointment or high costs

✴️Manage My Health Cyber Security Incident✴️

We were informed by Manage My Health that they would contact us if any of our patients were impacted by the Breach by the close of business yesterday.
We have not received any notification from them so this would indicate that no one from our practice has been impacted by this incident.

Manage My Health have suggested, for added peace of mind, that patients can reset their password or enable two factor authentication. This adds an additional layer of protection.

Manage My Health have also suggested patients keep an eye out for anything unusual, such as medical bills or insurance claims you don’t recognise or unexpected letters or emails from healthcare providers. If you see anything that looks odd, please contact us or the healthcare provider immediately.

Please do not hesitate in reaching out to us with any concerns you have.

AVOID DISSAPOINTMENT - CHECK WHEN YOUR MEDICATION IS DUE!!
In the run up to Christmas , check when your medications will be next due and organise your GP appointment / prescription in plenty of time.
The pharmacy also has reduced delivery around Christmas and New Year. WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ORGANISE LAST MINUTE REQUESTS !

Patient Satisfaction Survey

We are running a dedicated survey for all patients 16yrs and over, it is active until 30th November 2025.
There has been a great response so far and still plenty of time to share your thoughts and enter the competition.
The results and feedback for the team will help us to measure ‘what we are doing well and what we could do better.’
All results will be anonymous.
If you would like to be entered into the draw to win a ‘Wellness Check’ valued at $181, you can complete the separate prize draw slip with contact details and place in the box provided.
All feedback is valued, and we will share the overall results with the community.

Health Centre Fees 2025
As a community trust we try and keep patient fees at the Amuri Community Health Centre as low as possible. They have been reviewed and will incur an increase this year these are as follows and take effect from 1st November 2025
Adult 18yrs + Consult $55
Adult 18yrs + Consult with CSC $20
Child 14 yrs + Consult $42
Child 14 yrs + Consult with CSC $13
The above charges to see a DR are for a standard 15- minute appointment , if the appointment involves travel to the patient, extended time, multiple family problems , medical supplies, travel medicine, or medical certificates, other charges will apply

It’s important that you have you breasts checked regularly , know what’s normal for you , and report any changes to your DR even if you have had a mammogram recently
92 % of breast cancers are survivable if found early

Please be aware of many reported cases of Measles in NZ recently
Measles is a vaccine preventable disease with current recommendations for Adults and for children not immunised born 1969 or later two documented doses of MMR are considered immune
Please contact the Amuri Community Health Centre if any concerns re immunity.

This may affect your travel times to your appointments at our clinic, so keep this in mind in the coming weeks.

SH7 HURUNUI TO BALMORAL – ROAD RENEWAL

Plan ahead for daytime STOP/GOs between Hurunui and Balmoral starting Monday 29 September to Thursday 6 November, 7am to 6pm each Monday to Saturday for road renewal work.

DELAYS of up to 15 minutes are expected, a 30km/h temporary speed limit will remain in place for the duration of the work.

This work depends on various factors and may be amended or rescheduled; an update will be provided in the comment section. ^JP
