Midwives are in desperate need of protective gear!
We need gloves, masks, eye protection, sanitizer and any gowns or disposable overalls.
Midwives have to keep working and seeing possible at risk families, they then go to another family and pregnant mums and we want to try and stop the spread! Please help us to help the families we care for.
Now that you're not working for the time being - if you have stocks would you be willing to sell them or donate to desperate on-call community Midwives???
If so please message.

Pretty awesome stuff aye!

“When a baby suckles at its mother's breast, a vacuum is created. Within that vacuum, the infant's saliva is sucked back into the mother's ni**le, where receptors in her mammary gland read its signals. This "baby spit backwash," as she delightfully describes it, contains information about the baby's immune status. Everything scientists know about physiology indicates that baby spit backwash is one of the ways that breast milk adjusts its immunological composition. If the mammary gland receptors detect the presence of pathogens, they compel the mother's body to produce antibodies to fight it, and those antibodies travel through breast milk back into the baby's body, where they target the infection.”

Eta: Lots of discussion around this theory. If you'd like further info see http://mammalssuck.blogspot.com/2016/01/breast-milk-baby-spit.html?m=1

"When babies suckle, ni**le diameter increases and there is a vacuum with negative pressure, delivering fluids from the infant oral cavity— a cocktail of milk and saliva— back into the ducts of the breast. For the record the technical term for “baby spit backwash” is “retrograde milk flow” (Geddes et al. 2008; Geddes 2009; Geddes et al. 2012; Ramsey et al. 2004)."
