Shout-Out to Aaron, our Secondary Processing Manager!

Today, Aaron took the plunge (literally) and completed his Toss the Boss Bungy Jump with AJ Hackett Bungy NZ! 🎉

He “won” this prize by a landslide at our recent quiz night… thanks to the strong turnout from his area on the night, helping him secure the ultimate thrill ride. Talk about teamwork at its finest! 😅

Big respect to Aaron for braving the bungy and proving that gravity really does work.

Tenon 8-Week Gym Challenge!
Halfway There, Tenon Team! 🏋️‍♀️

We’re officially at the halfway point of the Tenon 8-Week Gym Challenge! And what a fantastic effort so far! With 46 Tenon staff members registered, the energy and commitment have been incredible 💪

Our personal trainer Karl, has shared some awesome feedback. Even staff not in the challenge are commenting that there are salads popping up everywhere for lunch and smoko! 🥗👏

Changing habits isn’t easy, but we’re seeing real momentum. Shift teams are supporting each other, encouraging healthier eating and regular exercise. That team spirit is what makes this challenge so powerful!

See the teams commitment in action, our staff came together to smash out 10 burpees as a show of unity and motivation! 💥

Let’s keep pushing through the next 4 weeks! For all the staff participating- You’ve got this! 🙌

Taupo Pink Walk 💗

Last Sunday Tenon was fortunate enough to participate in the Harcourts Taupo Pink Walk in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month! We donated $30 on behalf of each person who participated in the walk and had a total of 33 Tenon employees and family participate in the walk!!

Breast Cancer affects one in nine New Zealand women over their lifetime! Nine New Zealand women, on average, will hear the news today that they have breast cancer! Overall, 85% of people with breast cancer survive 10 years or more (95% if detected on a screening mammogram) but tragically, more than 650 women die of the disease every year!

Thank you Jill and the team at Harcourts for hosting such an awesome event! We loved dressing in pink in support of an awesome event and cause 🩷

Growing Our Future: Apprenticeships That Build Careers from the Ground Up

At Tenon Taupo, we believe in investing in people’s futures. That’s why we’re proud to offer apprenticeships that start from the ground up, giving our team members the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive in their careers.

We currently offer five hands-on apprenticeship pathways:
* Saw Doctoring
* Mechanical
* Electrical
* Kiln Operator
* Timber Machinist

These programs aren’t just about training; they’re about unlocking potential. In the last two years alone, four apprentices have successfully completed their journey, stepping into skilled roles that keep our operations running strong.
And the momentum is growing: 15 apprentices are currently working hard to complete their qualifications, supported by mentors, teammates, and a workplace that truly believes in their potential.

Every apprentice represents a story of dedication, opportunity, and the power of learning on the job. We’re proud of each one past, present, and future and are excited to see how they’ll shape the future of our industry.
Here’s to building skills, careers, and confidence, one apprenticeship at a time!

Congratulations Tani on the completion of your New Zealand Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing Timber Machining, Level 4. 🎉

Tani began his apprenticeship in July 2022, after having worked as a Mouldings Plant Operator in our Secondary Processing – Mouldings Plant. He has completed in-house training and Block Courses in Rotorua to achieve his qualifications in Level 3 and Level 4 Timber Machining over the last three years.

Tani we wish you continued success in your career at Tenon!

Bowel Cancer Awareness 💩

This week we have had the privilege of having ‘Colin the Colon’ and the wonderful team from Bowel Cancer New Zealand on site to educate our staff about Bowel Cancer, Early Detection and Intervention and the importance of looking after our gut health.

Bowel Cancer is currently New Zealand’s second biggest cancer killer: every year, over 3,300 Kiwis are diagnosed. Early detection and treatment offer the best chance of cure. 90% of Bowel Cancers are curable if caught early so it is important to know the signs and symptoms. Some key things you can be doing to lower the risk is to exercise, include fibre in your diet and increase your water intake – ideally 2 plus litres a day!

Congratulations to Brock and Jake on receiving their New Zealand Certificate in Solid Wood Manufacturing Timber Machining, Level 3! 🎉

They are officially halfway through their apprenticeship, and are now working towards completing their Level 4 Certificate in Timber Machining and once completed they will be fully qualified Timber Machinists!

Well done on this recent achievement and we wish you both ongoing success during the completion of your apprenticeship!
