Pōhutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa)
The beautiful New Zealand Christmas Tree

We will be meeting at 6.30pm Wednesday 7th December 2022at the giant Pōhutukawa tree, 24 Pitau Road, Mount Maunganui 3116

Here we will look at the oldest Pōhutukawa tree in Tauranga, learning about its history and medicine, then walk to see the related yellow Pōhutukawa’s.

This is our last meeting of this year let’s celebrate by bringing and sharing a plate as well as sampling some of the beautiful medicine Pōhutukawa shares with us.

The lovely Trish Jackson is giving an awesome talk on Kumarahou, sharing her incredible Rongoa knowledge with us lucky folk. Come along and hear about this amazing native herb, if your lucky you’ll learn how to recognise it, it’s in flower now.

Suggested Koha $4 to cover cost of the hall. Bring a plate to share and Kumarahou tea for supper.

There are many ways society pushes us to be as a woman, often being condoned for being too fat, too old, too ugly. We focus that much on competing at who is more pretty than who in our material world. An during this distraction we miss who we really are. We are energy, we all are energy for matter is condensed energy. And even then when viewed through an electron microscope, this is still more space than substance. We are all energy and it is time to tune in.

Herb of the Month – Turmeric (Curcuma longa)

Come along and learn about this awesome spice and the medicinal properties it has.
Practical session – how to make Golden paste – a powerful medicine that can be made quickly at home to treat a wide breadth of conditions. The bonus also being Turmeric Latte’s all around.

Bring a plate for a shared supper, lattes and tiffin.

Also any herb / plant items to trade, swop and share.

This month’s topic is Winter Warmers practical session in which we will make a pokey recipe with goods from your garden or easy to purchase (Garlic, Ginger, Lemon and Cayenne). Beat the flu, support your immune system, liver and detoxification. What better way than with goods from your garden. We will have a talk on the amsing medicinal benefits of these plants and they support they bring to your body as a whole.

Bring a clean jam jar for a sample of tea recipe, a plate to share and gold coin donation for the hall.

Kaimai Herb group will be meeting at 5pm Wednesday 6th April at Mclaren falls park. We will be meeting at Cherry Bay by the barbeque. The reason, a talk on Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba). McLaren falls has several beautiful trees so a great opportunity to learn to identify them. This is also the perfect time of year to harvest leaves, which are great in treating a whole range of conditions including peripheral circulation, memory problems and radiation issues. Come along, bring a snack to share and we'll be supping on Ginkgo tea. Look forward to seeing you.
