From Artlandish: "This Gorgeous Painting by Wendy Nungarrayi Brown is Literally Out Of This World 🌟 It is Titled “Star (Seven Sisters) Dreaming” The Star (Seven Sisters) Dreaming depicts the story of the seven ancestral Napaljarri sisters who are found in the night sky today in the cluster of seven stars in the constellation Ta**us, more commonly known as the Pleiades. The Pleiades are seven women of the Napaljarri skin group and are often depicted in paintings of this Dreaming carrying the Jampijinpa man ‘wardilyka’ (the bush turkey) who is in love with the Napaljarri-warnu and who represents the Orion’s Belt cluster of stars. Jukurra-jukurra, the morning star, is a Jakamarra man who is also in love with the seven Napaljarri sisters and is often shown chasing them across the night sky. In a final attempt to escape from the Jakamarra the Napaljarri-warnu turned themselves into fire and ascended to the heavens to become stars. The custodians of the Napaljarri-warnu Jukurrpa are Japaljarri/Jungarrayi men and Napaljarri/Nungarrayi women." For all details please go to http://artlandish.com/wnbsd

🌱 Pohutakawa
Used in the past for sore throats, another rongoā is the beauty and joy it brings with it’s billiant colour during Aotearoa’s summer months.

🍹 Last summer we made fresh Pohutakawa & mint cordial. This year we’ll have a go at making a powdered cordial.

🌱 Tātarāmoa
We make a wairakau and consume warm with a karakia before bed to help with a restful sleep. It’s also good to have during the day to settle anxiety.

Ngā mihi for this koha xx

🌑 Mutuwhenua, Friday 5th November
Te marama has dwindled, and this phase signals a time to rest & plan.

Mums: Retail therapy.
Dads: A roast, remote & relax.

🔋ENERGY: Low

🎣HĪ IKA (FISHING): Unfavourable day for fishing, good night to go eeling

🥗MĀRA KAI (GARDENING): Unfavourable day for planting food

🥣KAI (EATING): No kai (fasting) water or liquid forms of kai accepted

🧘🏽‍♀️ KORIKORI TINANA (ACTIVITY): No physical activity, rest and recovery, good time to practice mindfulness and meditation.

📔ETAHI ATU MEA (OTHER) As the light fades and the nights are thick and dark, this is a good period to reflect, keeping close to whānau, sharing time and energy, be mindful of others and take this as a time to rest.

The best observations are YOUR observations in your own rohe, and the kōrero here should serve as a guide only 🌈✨

🌱 Tūpakihi
These beauties have been brewing for over 3 months and we’re ready now to test some formulations in search of a luxurious-feeling cream or ointment.

Tūpakihi was used by our ancestors to heal broken bones. We’re only looking to aliviate pains from arthritis and gout which have both decided to be present in my whānau.

What oils do you have on the go at the moment?
