Birth Prep!! This exercise is a must do in your last trimester πŸ‘† Your abdominal muscle play a vital function in labour as well as supporting your increased body weight in the last couple of weeks.

How many women avoid abdominal exercises in pregnancy?
- Most of us.
Why are we neglecting a whole muscle group in the strengthen and conditioning of pregnant women. Abdominal wall strengthening benefits pregnant women in the following ways:
πŸ’œ Help support changes in center of mass as baby
grows
πŸ’œ Assist in keeping women independent and self
reliant during pregnancy
πŸ’œ Reduced time spent in final stages of labour
πŸ’œ Post-partum recovery time reduced

Do you want to continue kicking butt at work regardless of being pregnant? πŸ˜„
The 2 biggest challenges you'll face will be
1. Fatigue management
2. Pelvic pain

As a women in business myself, I know how important it is to priority everyone and everything else above your own needs. BUT when you are pregnant, you will not be able to make it last! Your body will force you to slow down if you are not looking after it.
That is why I created the Pregnancy Physio platform! Its a platform designed to support and educate you on how to keep yourself functioning at a optimal level 😎

You can not be diagnosed or diagnose a patient with a tight pelvic floor using palpation. Not even if you used a medical device to detect a "tight" pelvic floor πŸ‘Ž
This is bound to upset a lot of pelvic health Physiotherapist, but I am discussing this because it is a conversation we need to have! There is currently no clinically reliable measure to detect pelvic floor tone. As health professionals we need to base our advise on science and research. Not Instagram trends and theories. Especially when in comes to the field of women's health.
If you are still diagnosing women with a hypertonic pelvic floor, than it is not to late to change πŸ₯°

How do you stay safe weight training throughout your pregnancy? Let's break it down a bit
1. No breath holding - Focus on having breath flow while performing different weight lifting movements. Breath holding can result in a big spike in blood pressure
2. Work within a 10-20 rep range. I say this because you ideally want to stay away from typical powerlifting/Olympic lifting rep ranges (1-6). Weight training in pregnancy is focused on preserving maximum muscle mass. Therefore aiming for a 10-20 Rep range will prevent you from lifting to heavy while still making muscle gains.
3. Stay consistent - This is very important! Your body is changing every single week! By staying consistent in the gym you won't notice a dramatic change in the way your body feels between training sessions.
4. Keep with it for as long as possible. There is not clear line in the sand as to how long you can keep training for. The recommendations are that you keep doing it for as long as you can.

The people that think they don't need to know about breathing and the people that need it the most!! They are the people that do not understand the impact breathing patterns has on our daily living.

LETS TALK ABOUT 🀭

This is a conversation that more of us need to be a part of! Pop your headphone and listen to this podcast. I would say there is something that applies to every women in this podcast - pre or post baby.

Health and well-being and female intimacy is 100% interconnected. This has always been a controversial conversation to have, especially in a clinical setting. However, one of the most common questions I get in women that come in for a postpartum assessment is in regards to their intimacy.
