We are incredibly proud to share this series of photographs, captured by our Funeral Director Darin’s daughter Elia, as part of her NCEA Level 3 Photography end of year assignment at Otumoetai College.

Through a documentary lens, these images tell the story of a funeral from start to finish, focusing on the parts of the process that are rarely seen. Shot entirely in black and white, the work removes distraction and invites quiet reflection, allowing the care, dignity, and beauty in each moment to come through.

The project earned 1st place in Photography, a remarkable achievement, and a powerful reminder of the meaning behind the work we do every day.

Part of what makes us unique is that Legacy Funerals is owned by Legacy Trust - a registered charitable trust dedicated to giving back.

Recently, Legacy Trust donated towards the Mount Indoor Bowls’ Tournament Day – our third donation to this wonderful club.

Our support helps the Mount Indoor Bowls community come together for a day that’s both fun and fiercely competitive, with players travelling from around the Bay to take part.

Because every family we help, helps us give back.
