​This feeling is why I started Whakaora Mauri - my energy healing and rongoā Māori practice. It's not just treating symptoms; it's seeking to revitalize mauri so you can stand tall, rooted in joy, just like the kākahu is worn with pride.

Nau mai haere mai ki Whakaora Mauri – your new space for deep restorative healing.

​I'm Hinetoko, the founder and practitioner behind Whakaora Mauri. He uri tēnei nō Ngāti Pikiao, Tūhourangi, Rongowhakaata, Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa hoki. I'm thrilled to finally share this space with you all!

​At Whakaora Mauri, we are dedicated to helping you heal through the power of rongoā Māori. We use traditional modalities like mirimiri-ā-wairua, romiromi, karakia, waiata, and energy healing to help you release trauma and fully restore your Mauri (lifeforce/wellbeing).

​As an energy practitioner, I have a background in reiki, but am now fully committed to the healing modalities of my tūpuna. My goal is always to create a safe, nurturing, and culturally affirming space for your haerenga whakaora (healing journey). I am constantly learning and upskilling to bring the best service I can.

Part of my journey as a healer has been healing my own inner child. Breaking cycles is hard, but it’s also powerful. This is what I’d say to my younger self…

Dear younger me,

Unlearning the things we were told as a child, can be difficult. Because it becomes our inner voice. It becomes the way we speak to ourselves, in a way that we would never speak to the people we love.

But know this, the people who spoke to you in this way - were just repeating the cycles they were taught. They didn't know any better.

But you - you grew up and decided to make a change, and break those cycles. You became a parent who speaks love and light into their children.

You are a completely different parent than the example you were shown, and it shows in the way you chose not to hit your children, you don't swear at them, call them awful names, or compare them unfavourably to their other parent.

They know that you're in their corner. They feel safe with you.

You created that safe space for them, despite all the awful things you were told about yourself as a child. You. Did. That.

YOU did that. And I'm so proud of you.
