🥑 Beauty in the small things 🥑

If all you know about avocados is the end product you see in the supermarket, then you may be surprised to see how tiny the flowers on avocado trees are!

We’ve had thousands of bees through our orchard and they’ve done a very good job 🐝

The result is a tiny green bump once the flower has died, which then grows eventually into quite a large fruit really! 🥑

I’m a big drinker of herbal tea and this is my garden of healing herbs to either pick fresh or to dry out when there is an abundance!

Growing here is lemon balm, marshmallow, chamomile, thyme, peppermint, sage (common & white) rosemary, orange balm, evening primrose, yarrow, valerian, bee balm, dandelion, echinacea (still to pop up) & self heal 💜

It’s easy to grow these and you can have your own little tea garden!

💚 The process of making my Pain Balm - from straining out the plant matter from the plant infused oil, to melting together the other ingredients, adding essential oils, pouring into jars, waiting for them to set and finally labels on! 💚

🍊 Melissa officinalis ‘Mandarina’ 🍊

A close relation of the better-known lemon balm, this herb (orange balm) has pale lavender flowers in summer which, like all members of the mint family, are very attractive to bees.

The leaves make a refreshing orangey flavoured tea and are also good in green and fruit salads, but pick them just before you need them to stop them from going brown.

These plants have all the same medicinal benefits of lemon balm, being used as a tonic and for many other treatments including cold sores, colds and fever, digestive upsets in children and on insect bites.

The picture is of the orange balm in my garden and it comes back every year, to keep my supply of tea leaves topped up!

💚 Kawakawa Balm 💚

Kawakawa is a New Zealand native plant used in Maori culture for its many healing properties.
This balm it is excellent for use on bites and stings, grazes, boils and eczema.
It has a very distinct aroma to it and I have used plants that I have grown on my property, to infuse into the oil for this balm.
