On Friday 10th May, we unveiled a Tukutuku panel crafted by local artist Ange Dudson-Moko after it was blessed by local Rangatira Te Hira Hector Haimona Jack-Kino.
Ange designed the tukutuku artwork as a representation of the deep connection between the people of Tauranga Moana, the land and their tūpuna.
Some of our team attended the unveiling and joined in with waiata to celebrate the occasion.
A kōrero about the panel will be attached alongside to explain the design.

We feel very lucky to have this displayed in our foyer.

Congratulations to our clever nurses for being awarded their RNFSA qualification (Registered Nurse First Surgical Assistant). Our registered nurses, Chris Gaskell, Alice Walker, Julia Ashley and Dominique Lieder (see photo) have achieved a qualification which allows them to perform an extended role as a surgical assistant in operating theatres. Great work ladies – we are proud of what you have achieved. A huge congratulations to Mari Akatsu, our first household staff member to achieve a Level 3 certificate in cleaning and supervision. Yeehah! We’re very proud. It was particularly special as Mari’s daughter Rina, who is part of our kitchen staff, was also there to help us celebrate Mari’s hard work.

Organised by Breast Cancer Support Service Tauranga, it was great to see so many people dressing up, having fun, and helping to raise funds for this amazing organisation. Our carpark has now been completed, but the work is not over yet! You would have seen cranes erecting concrete panels at Grace over the last couple of weeks. Part of our ongoing campus extension, the construction of this new endoscopy room will enable further expansion of clinical departments within the hospital. 😊
