🌟 Meaningful occupations 🌟

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve explained that occupational therapy isn’t just about paid employment. At its core, it’s about engagement in meaningful occupations. Whatever that might be, however it might look, we are here to help.

Here are just some of mine ☺️
1. Candle gardening inspired by .with.ginger
2. Chasing waterfalls
3. Baking cakes
4. Relaxing at the beach with my daughters
5. Playing cards and board games
6. Camping off grid with best friends
7. Supporting the local community

Tomorrow at Celebrate Together, I will have a range of squishy fidgets for sale. These have been tried and tested by me, my wonderful daughters and lots of clients in order to select the most dense, squishy and interactive tools from the Smooshos range.

Just another reason to come down and see Otis and I ☺️

Oh! and you'll get to see Mandy and Bo from Nurture Paediatrics and the amazing ladies from Spectrum Connections who will have a sensory space set up for those that might want some chill out time.

Hi, virtual world! 👋🏼

I’ve been quiet on here for a few months as I settle into my new norm of being a full-time private OT.

Part of this has been spent reflecting on my “why” and I wanted to share some of that with you so you get to know more about the person behind the name.

I hope my vulnerability and honesty will give just one person reading this the nudge to embrace a different part of themselves and step into the world tomorrow with bravery and pride.

We are all different and I think that’s the best thing about us!

A great initiative. Hopefully some whanau reading this will be able to make use of it. It even appeals to me!

Sensory friendly screenings at EVENT Cinemas are running in term 3 July-September.

The locations are EVENT Cinemas Albany, Manukau, St Lukes, Westcity, Chartwell, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Queensgate, Tauranga Crossing.

The films include Elio (20th July), Lilo and Stitch (3rd August), How to Train your Dragon (24th August), and Smurfs (14th September). All tickets are $12.

Sensory Screenings allow people to enjoy their favourite films in a safe and accepting environment where kids are free to get up, move around, shout or sing. The cinema lights are dimmed and the movie volume lowered for sensitive ears.
