On Sunday on TV One last night there was an article on concussion in Rugby League, and a very unfortunate incident here in Tauranga
Concussions can have serious health consequences including death if not managed properly. Anyone suspected of having a concussion should not return to play that day and should be monitored in their recovery by someone who understands the condition. All players need a medical clearance before returning to play sport. As different sports have different guidelines the clearance should be undertaken by a sports doctor who understands sports concussions.
