THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A GRAVEYARD & A CEMETERY.
Historically a churchyard (graveyards) was located within church grounds. Whereas cemeteries were not affiliated with a particular religion rather it served the larger community.
Today apart from the etymology of graveyard and cemetery the words are mainly classified as synonyms of each other.
