After a huge surge in demand over the past week, we are unfortunately out of Covid vaccine at present, waiting on more supplies due any day.

This will be the updated Comirnaty LP.8.1 vaccine that came out earlier this month.

If you would like to be contacted when covid vaccine is back in, please email us with your details and mobile number - dispensary@sanderspharmacy.co.nz

Everyone over 30 is recommended to have an updated covid vaccination at least every 12 months, and every 6 months if you are higher risk:
- people aged 65 and older
- Māori and Pacific people aged 50 and older
- residents of aged care facilities
- severely immunocompromised people
- people aged 12 years and over who have a medical condition that increases the risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

A lovely patient surprised our team with these beautiful flowers last week to say thank you for helping with their prescriptions. 💐

It was such a kind gesture and really made our day. Community pharmacy can be busy and sometimes a bit chaotic behind the scenes, but our team genuinely cares about looking after people in our community and helping however we can.

The Sanders team send our aroha to those affected by the severe weather and flooding in our region, especially to those who have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods. We are heartbroken for you.

If anyone is impacted with loss of essential medical supplies or medicines, we are open until 3pm today and again 9-3 tomorrow, but please send us a Facebook message if you need something out of those times and we will help you out with an emergency supply.

Today we took a little break from the busyness to celebrate Galentine’s Day, and honestly… it was exactly what we needed. 🥰✨

One of our amazing technicians Kylie had a brilliant idea: each of us wrote a note to another team member, sharing something we appreciate about them… and we got a bit creative with some artwork too 🎨💖

There were plenty of smiles, a few “aww” moments, and that lovely reminder of why the Sanders team culture is so strong: we genuinely value each other, and we don’t take for granted how lucky we are to work alongside such great humans every day.

And because we can’t do anything without snacks 😄 we also enjoyed a gorgeous Valentine’s-themed morning tea, thanks to Kylie, Danielle and Gail 🍓

✨ Twice as nice in 2026! ✨

We’re incredibly excited to welcome not one, but two intern pharmacists to the Sanders Pharmacy team this year: Anna and Aylah-Rose!

Anna joins us from the University of Auckland, bringing amazing up-to-date clinical knowledge and a fresh perspective as she begins her internship journey with us. We’re so pleased to have you on board, Anna!

Aylah-Rose, from the University of Otago, is already a familiar face around here. She’s been part of our team for the past few summers as a student, and we couldn’t be happier to see her step into her internship with us - we've been hanging out for this day for years!

For the first time ever, we’ll be training two future pharmacists at once - and the whole team is excited to both learn from them and support them as they grow. The future of pharmacy is reassuringly bright 🌟

10 years ago today the Sanders Pharmacy team lost a precious light in our world: our dispensary technician Neroli.

We can’t believe how fast 10 years have gone, and yet she is so often in our thoughts.

Neroli was a force of nature. Laughter, kindness and effervescent presence that lifted every room she entered.

We think of her at the gym, when we cuddle our kids, when we help make hampers for Musika's Gift. When we celebrate a friend's hard won success, a challenge accepted, a quiet kindness shown. When we heard Mike King speak at a conference, or when a team member takes the time to sit and support someone having a hard time. When we drive past the road to her house, when the light hits a certain way over the fields. When someone is bantering with the courier drivers, or when we are lucky enough to run into one of her friends in the pharmacy or a favourite patient. There is so much of you Neroli in our day to day, I can still hear your voice, your laugh. Your beautiful smile in the photo in my office.

It’s hard not to think about Neroli without a lump in our throats. But in equal measure with the pain of the goodbye is gratitude: that for 5 years our worlds collided and we had the extraordinary honour of having her work beside us almost every day.

We often think of her whānau and friends, and know they are keeping her light alive, that it warms them still.

At her funeral I shared these words, which still feel so true:

“As quickly as Neroli would arrive at work, she would also zoom out the door - often a quick tap tap on the counter, flying around each person "see you!”, huge smile on her face, flying home to see her precious family. It was so very clear to us how much she treasured being a mum, and a wife. We know you were her joy. It will always be my immense privilege to have had Neroli on our team, and we are so very grateful that she was here with us when she could have been somewhere else.”

On her last birthday on earth, she messaged me about enjoying every minute: “Each day is not a given.”

Neroli, you truly lived like that - with love, energy, braveness and strength.

You’ve left an indelible mark on all of us.

We love you. We miss you.

We couldn’t let the year end without celebrating a very special milestone - both Sherryl and Allison have now been with Sanders Pharmacy for 10 whole years!

We are so incredibly lucky to have these two amazing women on our team. They each bring something truly special, and they’re a huge part of what makes the Sanders difference. Our staff and patients alike treasure them - and it’s easy to see why.

Sherryl joined us as a natural health consultant in August 2015, and she’s been a smiling, calm, steady expert in the shop ever since. Over the years, I’ve lost count of how many customers have told me what wonderful service they’ve received from her. She takes such care in listening to people and finding just the right solution, and she’s just as supportive of her teammates as she is with her patients.

Alli started just a few weeks later as our pharmacist - in fact, she began a few days earlier than planned when I unexpectedly had a premature baby (she got the mayday call from me on the way to hospital)! She’s been flying in to rescue me ever since, from taking a lead on our leadership team to training new pharmacists as a preceptor. She’s full of great ideas and is always looking for ways to improve care and service for our patients.

Together, Sherryl and Alli have championed so many initiatives that help Sanders give back to our community in meaningful ways.

And now it’s time for them to celebrate! Sherryl is off for a luxury weekend in Tauranga, and Alli will be enjoying the stunning Nuku private catered walk — both well-deserved getaways with their wonderfully supportive husbands.

Thank you SO much, Alli & Sherryl! Your passion for pharmacy and our patients always shines through. We appreciate you more than words can say. 💛
