Tau Ora

Tau Ora Tau Ora is based on the idea of team members supporting each other to overcome challenges and achieve their personal wellbeing goals.

Tau Ora is a holistic organisational wellbeing programme developed at Te Wānanga o Aotearoa by kaimahi for kaimahi. The programme was launched in 2007 and has been hugely successful with more than 50% of staff engaging with the programme each year. Staff members create teams of five members to compete against each other. Teams score points by exercising regularly and completing a range of challenges. Te Puna Oranga Wellbeing Model has provided the foundation or anchor for Tau Ora, ensuring we provide a holistic approach and are pono (true) to the values which underpin not only Te Ao Māori but also Te Wānanga o Aotearoa. These guiding principles and values promotes our point of difference to any other wellbeing programme out there.

Just like your physical health, your taha hinengaro (mental) needs to be taken care of. Taha hinengaro is your mind, heart, conscience, thoughts and feelings. It’s about how you feel, as well as how you communicate and think.

Swimming is an awesome way to connect the mind, body and breath. Did you know that swimming can improve your mood, reduce your stress, and help you unwind... even if it is hunting for kaimoana!!
