On ANZAC Day, we stand in quiet reflection—hearts anchored in gratitude, minds turned to those who walked before us.

We remember the courage of souls who answered a call greater than themselves, who left behind homes, whānau, and dreams to serve with honour. In distant lands and uncertain times, they carried not only the weight of duty, but the enduring spirit of Aotearoa and Australia.

At dawn, as light breaks the horizon, it mirrors their legacy—steady, unyielding, and eternal. Their sacrifice is not lost to history; it lives on in every generation that pauses, remembers, and gives thanks.

May we honour them not only in silence, but in how we live—through unity, compassion, and the strength to stand for what is right.

Lest we forget.

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Miles Hayward. Yesterday the world lost a truly remarkable man, and we lost the centre of our family — our amazing dad, devoted husband, cherished granddad, brother, uncle, and a loyal friend to so many.

Miles fought bravely until the very end, passing peacefully in the early hours of this morning surrounded by Colleen, Kimmy, Kelly and Sarah. True to who he was, he kept us entertained right until his final moments, making us laugh even as his voice gently faded.

He was a man of incredible strength, stubborn determination, courage, and endless love. Anyone who knew Miles knew his drive, his humour, and his big heart. Those qualities will stay with us forever.

But what stands out most is the legacy he leaves behind — in his family, in the lives he touched, and in the love he gave so freely. That legacy will continue to live on long after today, in every story we tell, every laugh we share, and every memory we hold close.

We were so lucky to know him, to love him, and to be loved by him.

A celebration of Miles’ incredible life will be will be held on Friday 13 March at 11am at Our Lady Star of the Sea School Hall, Stella Maris Way (off Chapel Road, Northpark).
Afterwards, everyone is warmly invited to join us for light refreshments and to have a Lion Red cheers for Miles at the Pakuranga Bowling Club (451 Pakuranga Road).

A livestream and tribute page to leave your thoughts and memories will be available at … https://share.funeral.stream/vFwxQ

Rest easy, Dad. We love you always.

It is with the greatest honor that we have the ability to take care of

Pieter Karel Johannes Venter
Sunday, the 21st of January 1973 - Tuesday, the 24th of February 2026

Pieter Karel Johannes Venter passed away at Waikato Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.

On behalf of Louisa (Wife), Eduan (Son), Tané (Daughter), PK (Dad), Nellie (Mum), Rynhard (brother), Sanette (sister), we want to say thank you from the depths of our hearts.

Thank you for every Scripture shared, every gentle word of prayer, every message of sympathy, every encouragement, and every sincere act of care. Your love has carried us through hours that were too heavy to bear alone.

We are deeply grateful for the honour, respect, and love with which you have remembered our beloved Pieter. It comforts us to know that he lived not only in our hearts, but in yours as well. We can see that his beautiful and genuine life has left a deep and lasting imprint on the pages of your souls.

We share this loss with you. The absence is great — but so is the legacy of love he leaves behind.

We pray that the same peace that surpasses all understanding, and the gentle comfort of YaHUah’s presence, will surround and uphold each one of you during this time.

Love one another. Hold each other close. Spend precious time with your loved ones. Speak the words that live in your heart to those who are dear to you — because time is fragile, precious, and only on loan.

A Service will be held at Friday, 13th March at 12:00 pm.

Followed by the burial at Pyes Pa Cemetery, Tauranga.
