Getting a flu jab is your best defence and it's free for those most likely to get very sick.

If you're 65 and over, pregnant, or have certain health conditions like diabetes – you can now get your free flu jab. For Māori and Pacific people, the free flu vaccination is available from 55 years.

With the opening of New Zealand’s borders, it’s likely we’ll see new types of the flu virus spreading in our communities. Pandemic measures like mask wearing and hand hygiene have meant we've had very little influenza circulating in New Zealand for the past two years, so our community immunity is lower than usual.

Contact your GP or local pharmacy to book an appointment, or find more information here: https://www.health.govt.nz/flujab
