Love this ..
A while ago, I made a decision to forgive my body for not looking the way I wanted it to. You see - I do the healthy things. If asked by one of those online test things, I’d rate my health as ‘excellent’. And yet, my body doesn’t look like girls on the front cover of fitness magazines... or in fitness apps and it never will. I have a natural set point weight - a weight that my body feels comfortable at (thrives at!) - and it’s bigger than the media or health world tells me it should be. At some point, I had to stop fighting my body’s natural weight and my shape. I had to choose to no longer starve myself (some people call it fasting these days... just sayin’) to weigh less. I had to decide I wouldn’t over exercise or under-eat. Or obsess over numbers. Or go to bed each night feeling guilty for eating too much yet again. Plus, no matter how much weight I lost - it never felt good enough to me anyhow. You could say I was tired of sacrificing my health just to ‘look’ healthy to other people!!! I decided “no more”.
To the person who thinks they need to lose just a few more kilos to get to your goal weight, know this: maybe the reason you find it so hard to lose the ‘last few kilos’ is because you’re not meant to. This weight is where your body is comfy, your mood is lifted and your energy is high. It’s the weight where you fall asleep easily and don’t think about food all the time. You have to forgive your body for not looking the way you wished it would when you’re living a healthy life. At your healthiest weight, you may not have abs, or a perfectly flat stomach or cellulite-free juicy bits. Live a healthy life but also decide that you won’t sacrifice your wellbeing or 95% of your life just to weigh 5% less.
