Our hearts are heavy this week as we farewell Bruce Graham.

Bruce passed away at home, surrounded by his family on Friday 17th October after a courageous battle with Parkinsons.

He began his working career on the bench at Tuakau Cabinet Works & Undertakers, learning the trade of Joiner and Cabinetmaker, which included making caskets from milled Rimu trees purchased by his father Percy Graham, who began the family business on 6th April 1935.

Alongside his father and younger brother Stuart the business grew and a separate funeral entity was established called PRJ Graham & Sons, later to morph into Grahams Franklin Funeral Services, then Grahams Funeral Services.

Bruce completed his embalming training and later purchased a headstone business in the early 1970’s, to become one of the first funeral companies to incorporate monumental masonry into the funeral business.

In the years after son Mark joined the family business in 1988, they worked together and expanded the business to include premises in Pukekohe and Waiuku.

He was an incredible community man, funeral director and previous company director of Grahams Funeral Services. His involvement and dedication to the funeral industy was insurmountable and he leaves behind a legacy that we are proud and honoured to uphold.

We extend our love to Lynne, Mark, Ross, Megan and their families.

Take your place to rest among the stars.
You will be welcomed with open arms, Bruce.

"I don't want a fuss"

We hear this often but what happens when the deceased's good intentions create further grief for those left behind?

We are here to help people understand that funerals serve the living, not the dead and that having a service of some sort, without being elaborate, can balance the wishes of your loved one with the needs of those left behind.

1 in 3 Kiwis will receive a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime and each day 77 Kiwis hear the words, “you have cancer.

It’s Daffodil day and we have been out collecting donations for the Cancer Society which will help cancer patients and their families get the care and practical support they need; from crucial help getting to treatment via free driving services, through to specialist nursing and psychology support, and accommodation for those needing life-saving treatment far from home.
If you can, please donate today. Every donation counts!

'Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori'

As we celebrate Matariki and the Māori New Year today, we also remember those we have lost in the past year.
Pohutukawa is the star that connects Matariki to the deceased and is the reason people would cry out the names of the dead and weep when Matariki was seen rising in the early morning. It is through Pohutukawa that we remember those who have died in the year just gone.

Pre-arranging a funeral can reduce the stress and pressure at the time of passing while making sure your wishes are recorded.

Sometimes a pre-arrangement can be sitting down with a cuppa and asking questions about the unknown, to a complete funeral arrangement and pre-payment plan through The Funeral Trust (see link in comments).

Our experienced and qualified staff are here to help guide you through this to ensure you have all of the options and information you need.

Give our office a call today to make a time for us to meet with you to start the process of a pre-arranged funeral or to organise a pre-arrangment pack to be sent to you to create peace of mind for you and your family.
