The Holidays are on the way!

Please plan ahead for repeat prescriptions and routine appointments, as demand often increases at this time of year!

Holiday hours🎅🕎:

24 December 2025: Open 8am - 2pm
25 - 26 December 2025: Closed
29 - 31 December 2025: Open with limited staffing. Book on day appointments only for acute care – no routine appointments during this time.
1 - 2 January 2026: Closed
5 January 2026: Normal hours resume

If you need repeat medications over the holidays (and the next 3 months), please order your repeat prescription(s) by 12 December 2025 so we can process in time. If you were to run out of medications over the holiday period, your regular pharmacy can give you an emergency supply at a cost.

We recommend The Doctors Online (open 8am-5pm Mon-Fri, except public holidays) for non-acute needs — see FAQs for suitability and fees.

Days and hours of the role:
Ideally Monday to Friday. 35-40 hours per week. 9 am - 5.30 pm or 8:30 am to 5 pm. Ideally 5 days per week but we would like to talk if you can also provide full days in a part-time capacity.
No late nights, weekends, or public holidays.

Responsibilities:
Dispense medications accurately and efficiently
Provide great customer service and patient counselling
Collaborate with healthcare professionals
Stay updated on clinical services expansions and implementation

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
Current pharmacist license in New Zealand, APC
Accreditations for clinical services

Hardings Chemist & Post is re-locating only 200 meters up the road, on the same side, to 167 Colombo Street, still in Beckenham, to a newer fresher building. We are merging with Christchurch South Pharmacy (formerly named Hardings Pharmacy).

Still a great selection of core health and well-being products, cough/cold, allergies, pain, DB cosmetics, natural health, GO Healthy, Sandersons, passport photos etc. Natio skincare range is moving to Cashmere Pharmacy, 91 Centaurus Rd.

We look forward to serving our community from the new Pharmacy site from the 6th June 2023 (after Queens/Kings Birthday weekend).

It’s pretty clear to my colleagues that influenza season is upon us…and it’s a vicious one.

Social distancing, masking, and closed borders meant that we weren’t exposed to the usual array of respiratory viruses over the past two years.

But now that everyone is acting like the pandemic is over.

There are lots who’ve come through COVID unscathed, only to be bed bound by flu this month because they weren’t vaccinated against the latter.

Please….don’t delay your flu vaccination. It’s not ‘too early in the season’. The season is here and it’s going to be one of our worst.
