Diabetes NZ with support from the University of Otago is pleased to launch the Diabetes Technology Information Sessions: automated insulin delivery (AID) for people living with Type 1 diabetes.

Join one of our online education sessions to learn more about AID and the Pharmac funded Insulin Pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGMs) available.

During these one-hour sessions we will be joined by experts from Dexcom/NZMS, Mediray and Pharmaco to hear more about AID and device compatibility. You will hear more about both the Tandem T:Slim x2 and mylife YpsoPump with CamAPS FX Pumps, along with details on the compatible Continuous Glucose Monitors, (Dexcom G6 and G7 and the Libre 3+).

Open to all across New Zealand.

The first sessions are on Tuesday 11th November at 12noon and 7pm.

💊 Community Pharmacy Standing with today's Super-Strike!!💊

Today thousands of essential workers will take to the streets to demand fair pay, safe staffing, and sustainable funding.

Community pharmacy won’t be among them — but we’ll be cheering loudly from behind the counter. We stand with those striking, but community pharmacies can’t legally join.

Why can’t we join?

Under NZ law, pharmacists must hold effective control of their pharmacies. That means pharmacist owners are company directors — and if we were to coordinate a “strike,” it could be called collusion.

But what it really protects is public safety — it ensures the person responsible for your medicines is a health professional (eg. Me, your local community pharmacist) , not a distant executive or corporate chasing profits or KPI.

So while others march today, community pharmacies will keep our doors open — not because we don’t care, but because the system makes it almost impossible for us to stand together in protest.

We believe in adequate, sustainable government funding. We believe in safe staffing levels to ensure health professionals can do their jobs.

We see you. We stand with you.🫡
And we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done — fighting for sustainable funding, a supported workforce, and safe, local care for every whānau.

We want to give a shout out and celebrate our wonderful pharmacy technicians. Thank you Anya, Ella, Erin, Emma, Kelly, Loz, Misty and Moana.

You are the backbone of the pharmacy, and you are the magic that happens behind the scenes to make sure our patients get their medicine prepared in a safe and timely manner. You guys manage all our stock levels, help package medications into robotic sachets, vaccinate, check prescriptions, prepare items for deliveries, visit our resthomes and care facilities,
trouble shoot and bring yummy baking too work!

You are the friendly face customers see as they walk into the pharmacy, the kind voice at the end of the phone and the caring listening ear patients and their whanau can share their health concerns with. Thank you for all that you do to support our pharmacists everyday, and for serving our community. You deserve to be acknowledged and thanked every day. 🥳🙌🩷

We are excited to announce that we now offer virtual consults with an emergency doctor in store. If you or your family are unwell, you can pop in to see our team. If it is something that requires our pharmacist to refer on, you now have to the option to be seen within minutes in our consult room. And we will be able to prepare your prescriptions while you wait. Easy!

The good people of Taradale can now video chat with an emergency doctor from within their local pharmacy.

We spotted one of our blister pack patients walking into the pharmacy with a bunch of flowers, and joked "aww you shouldn't have!" 💐 He proceeded to keep walking to the dispensary counter with his wife, then held the bouquet out to us! He wanted to show us his appreciation for all that we have done over the years, sorting out his medication changes and helping him with queries, liaising with his doctor, reminding him to get prescriptions, etc. It was such a lovely surprise! 🥰
We wanted to take a moment to stop and reflect, and say that we are so thankful and honoured to do our best to serve our community and to be a part of all your lives and health journey. Thank you all for choosing us as your local pharmacy. 🩷
