Skin Aware's mission is to reduce the mortality rate of Melanoma in New Zealand. With NZ having the highest rates of skin cancer in the world and an ageing population the need to raise awareness has become more urgent than ever. Skin Aware offers a personable, professional, compassionate service to workplaces focusing on early detection and prevention of skin cancer. This is done through education sessions, screening clinics and liaison support. Our staff are real carers, with strong values and a highly professional attitude.

Mixing your sunscreen with your moisturiser or foundation might feel like a time-saver, but it’s actually cutting corners where it matters most.

When you dilute SPF with skincare, you’re also diluting its protection, meaning you’re probably not getting anywhere near the SPF number printed on the bottle.

1. Apply skincare first
2. Then a full teaspoon (yes, teaspoon!) of sunscreen for your face, neck, and ears
3. Makeup goes on top, if that’s your thing.

There are no shortcuts to smart skin care.

Phillipa is a dedicated Registered Nurse, specialising in occupational health and certified in dermoscopy. As our go-to nurse for the mighty South Island, she covers countless kilometres to reach remote communities and workplaces that are often hard to access.

We’re proud to have her as part of the Skin Aware family, delivering comprehensive care and promoting skin health across the region.

As the weather warms up, it's tempting to shed protective clothing, but UV radiation is rising too. This Melanoma Awareness Month, remember that UPF-rated protective clothing is one of your most effective defences.

Swap heavy winter gear for lightweight, breathable UPF layers. Your clothes are an excellent way to shield your skin from UV damage. Cover up and keep yourself protected from the sun.
