Last night’s Shakti Naam breathwork combined the cooling flow of Sitali Pranayama with the graceful Surbhi Mudra, known for balancing the five elements and three doshas.

✨ Interlace the fingers cross-wise, thumbs open and extended.

✨ If you’re left-hand dominant (as I am), you may find it more natural to begin the sequence in reverse — what matters most is the balance between both hands.

How to Practise
• Right ring finger to left little finger
• Left ring finger to right little finger
• Right middle finger to left index finger
• Left middle finger to right index finger
• Thumbs open and extended
• Rest the hands lightly in front of the solar plexus, shoulders relaxed, spine tall, crown lifted

If starting with your left feels more natural:
• Left middle finger to right index
• Right middle to left index
• Right ring finger to left pinkie
• Left ring to right pinkie
• Thumbs open and extended

This mudra helps cool excess fire, ease acidity and tension, supports the bones and brain, can assist with arthritis, and awakens inner harmony.

Try it with Sitali — sip the breath slowly through a curled tongue or pursed lips, filling the lungs, then exhale through the nose just as gently.
Long, slow, and deep — 5 to 11 minutes is ideal.

Why We Chant Ra Ma Da Sa Every Sunday 🌟

Each SoulShine Sunday Yoga class closes with the sacred healing mantra Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung known as the Universal Healing Mantra or Shushmana Mantra.

This eight-sound vibration awakens the Kundalini energy to flow through the central channel of the spine, harmonizing the body’s physical and energetic systems. It balances the brain’s hemispheres, aligns the glandular system, and synchronizes the nervous system with the rhythm of divine order, allowing the entire being to attune to its natural state of harmony and healing.

When we chant it together, the sound current purifies the aura, clears the subconscious, and strengthens our innate capacity to heal. Over time, this sacred frequency imprints the mind with a “health trend” a deep inner conviction that reshapes our thoughts, emotions, and actions toward wholeness.

Each syllable carries a cosmic frequency:
☀️ Ra – the fire principle, the Sun, source of life and pranic energy
🌙 Ma – the water principle, the Moon, compassion and nurture
🌏 Da – the Earth principle, grounding action and stability
💨 Sa – the air principle, infinity, the boundless cosmos
✨ Say So Hung – merging the superior and the inferior, heaven and earth — “I am Thou.”

This mantra follows the very secret of transformation revealed by Hermes Trismegistus: “Ascend to heaven, descend to earth, unite the powers of the above and below — and obtain the glory of the whole world.”

In this same way, Ra Ma Da Sa unites spirit and matter, heaven and earth, within you.
It is a sound of renewal, bringing harmony to the mind, body, and soul.

In our Sunday SoulShine classes, we chant Ra Ma Da Sa Sa Say So Hung and work with the I Am 4 count breath through the Naam Star Kriya 🌟 sacred sounds that bring harmony and balance to body, mind, and spirit.

Composed by Dr. Levry, these mantras were part of groundbreaking research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (New York), published in the Journal of Pediatric Oncology and Hematology. Children receiving cancer treatment experienced a 14% reduction in pain medication after just one session.

Sound and mantra carry frequencies that calm the mind, open the heart, and align us with our inner light.
