BROS Aotearoa Building healthy Men in a new age of Embodied Masculinity. Events & Transformational Experiences Brotherhood is the medicine. OM

Organic Mechanic serves to bring men's wellbeing and brotherhood to the forefront of our community as a medium for collective healing, initiation, and collective transformation. This online group serves as a place to connect and share in between seasonal/bi-monthly events at the time of Rākaunui (full moon). Our events focus on creating a safe container for men to connect, listen, share and learn through cultural connection, healthy masculine energy, elder wisdom, and physical space where men can lean into their edge as we reckon as a collective with what lies within. Utilizing various processes and healing modalities such as breathwork, yoga, movement, sound healing, circles & more, we aim to address a holistic view of hauora/wellbeing (spiritual, physical, mental & emotional, social), in order to journey through our collective challenges towards understanding. In a time of increased isolation, systemic racism/oppression, and environmental violation, the call to create a space for men to share their emotions and feelings has never been clearer.

More men around more fires 🔥

We see it clearly: there is a hunger in our world for men who can be present in their lives - men who can hold space, bear responsibility, navigate emotional terrain, stand grounded even in chaos.

And yet, too few of us have been shown how.

We believe every community needs men who:
- carry both strength and tenderness;
- honour shadow as much as light;
- work from deep presence, not performance;
- hold a high standard of accountability & integrity
- understand that to truly lead is first to tend one’s own fire.

Our vision is a regional support network of men’s circles across Aotearoa.

Led by men who know how to step into emotional depth; who can anchor in stillness; who can facilitate ritual, connection, conversation; who hold accountability and care in equal measure.

So we train men.

The first step is our BROS Leadership Training, 8-9 November 2025 in Whāingaroa, Raglan.

Over two days, men will:
- Learn facilitation frameworks and circle-holding tools to lead with integrity
- Ground themselves through embodiment, breath, nature, ritual
- Enter emotional and inner work to expand capacity
- Build brotherhood, support, mentorship & accountability
- Return home ready to lead — their lives, their circles, their communities

Spaces are limited.
Pay what you can between $150 - $499

We invite men who feel a stirring. Whether you’ve done men’s work or are new to it - if you feel a call to step more fully into leadership of self, to support other men, to weave deeper connection in your region - this might be your path.

Will you join us? Will you train to tend more fires?

🪓 Pass to the left.

Our Toki, axe, hatchet - has been passed around many circles.

A witness to tears, truths, break-throughs, and breakdowns.

A keeper of stories, silence, and transformation.

As it’s passed from hand to hand, it reminds us:
to speak with courage,
to listen with presence,
to honour the sacred space we’re in.

This is our talking piece.

A taonga born in the freshwater rivers of Te Wai Pounamu, bound to a handle of Rewarewa, wrapped in cow's leather, and adorned with paua, bone, and the feather of a Kahu 🪶

Forged together by the steady hands of brother - and shaped by the energy of every man who’s ever held it.

In the BROS kaupapa, the axe is a mirror.

It reflects our potential:
To create, and destroy.
To sharpen, and to soften.
To wield power with integrity.

The warrior archetype lives here - but not in domination or ego.
In discernment.
In service.

To cut through the noise.
To say what needs to be said.
To protect.
To chop wood.
To keep the fire burning;
the one in our homes, and the one in our bellies.

Every time the toki is passed, a new edge is forged.

24 men came together at Karioi Maunga for a weekend of connection, reflection, and honest conversation.

With ages ranging from 20 to 82, we explored the theme of rewriting our stories - looking at the father wound, the roles we’ve been given, and what it means to be a man today.

Through daily sauna, breathwork, shared meals, and meaningful circle time, we created space to let go of old narratives and reconnect with ourselves and each other. Exploring the labels placed on us, the stories we’ve inherited, and choosing what we wanted to keep - and what to burn in the fire.

Led by Uncle John and supported by the land, every man left with a piece of gold. Something to carry home, integrate, and pass forward to his family, partner, community.

More men around more fires.

More gatherings on the horizon.

“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.”

Homage to the artist and prophet that is for sharing this potent message. The full article is written by Dave Lewis (Papa D), an elder in the BROS community. This is the first in a series of articles breaking down the wisdom of Uncle Bob.
