MedicAlert Service Access Indicia are a lifesaving and harm prevention medical information service device, that offer greater peace of mind, through a full range of Membership Support Services including:
• the ability to keep your medical and personal information up to date, at all times
• a 24/7 Emergency Hotline Service that can speak for you, when you cannot speak.
• a 24/7 Secure Digital Health Information Portal Service, that gives you direct access to your information, so you
can review and moderate your information as it changes.
• 24/7 connected health information services with the Ministry of Health and Health Provider Health IT Vendor
Systems (where available and activated).
• a unique MedicAlert ID number that enables access to your specific personal medical information, without
risking unwanted exposure of your sensitive NHI Number.
• a Membership Services Care Team available during business hours.
• an out of hours Call Centre that can take and pass on messages for you, or you can email our Membership
Services Care Team directly.
• a Medical Emergency Wallet Card, which should be replaced when your information changes.
• Annual Review notices are issued every year to ensure your vital information (not just your medical
information) is correct, accurate and compliant with the Health Information Privacy Code 2020.
• Personal Identity Information is securely stored on file and kept private, until it may be needed to identify you

• Independent research by PWC has shown MedicAlert Membership Services, cost less than the average financial
benefits of being a MedicAlert Member, through saved lives, prevented harm and reduced health service costs. Your MedicAlert Medical ID is intended to be worn at all times. If an unexpected emergency occurs, you want it to be on you and ready to work to protect you. In this time of Social Media, gimmicks, copy-cat and take-off products are being sold online with misinformation that is intended to discredit trusted and proven systems, in favour of promoting the sale of products for private profit. In the case of MedicAlert Foundation, we are not immune to this behaviour. Companies selling these gimmicks for private profit, typically use an unprotected logo, which is also used prolifically on uncontrolled promotional products and ID's by either the same or other online sellers that fail to have systems in place to protect the integrity of these products, in terms of health information, identity protection, or the validity of person to be warring such a product. These functional system failures put people at risk, while the primary interests of the sellers is to make more sales and profits. These products cannot be reliably trusted by Health Professionals due to these and other issues. They are considered to be false equivalents to a MedicAlert Medical ID. People are unwittingly buying these products, and receiving none of the MedicAlert Foundation Service Benefits provided as Charitable Supplies by the Foundation to protect our Members best interests.
