Looking for some more affordable, and possibly nicer-for-your-gut training fuel this weekend? Here’s some ideas you might find at your local supermarket:
• banana bread, fruit cake, plain sponge cakes
•dried fruit - dates, figs and mango are good options
•bananas - nature’s portable snack!
•easy to eat muesli bars and oat bars and rice bubble bars
•juice poppers, pouches and pureed foods
•pure maple syrup and honey
•vegemite sandwiches and wraps (PBJ is also a favourite!)
•Sports drink powders are an affordable option
•supermarket gels may also be an option for you
•lollies
•potato chips (think long bike days for Ironman training or trail running)
•hot cross buns, cheese bacon rolls, finger buns (again good for ultra endurance training)
