Kapiti Hot Yoga, home of the original 26+2 hot yoga series

Kapiti Hot Yoga, home of the original 26+2 hot yoga series Welcome to Kapiti Hot Yoga, we teach the original 26+2 hot yoga sequence, commonly known as Bikram Yoga. Heat + Yoga, how it works.

The sequence is made up of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises and is practiced in a heated room. When the body is warm, muscles, fascia, and connective tissue are more elastic allowing for greater flexibility and less chance of injury. Combine this with the intelligent sequence of poses that safely stretches & strengthens muscles, ligaments, and joints, and you have the perfect system of exercise to bring back natural range of motion to bodies. The sequence is made up of beginner's poses and is suitable for all abilities. Our goal is to teach students to take each pose step by step. Step one, learning to engage the right muscles and align the body. Step two, learning to breathe and still the mind once in the pose. And, step three, finding your depth, both physically and mentally. Students are led through the sequence by a set of detailed instructions designed to guide them in and out of poses safely. All classes are the same; same poses, same breathing exercises, same instructions - so you know exactly what to expect.

🔥 HOT YOGA IN SUMMER? YES — here’s why it’s actually the best time of year 🔥

Most people think hot yoga is a “winter thing”…but summer is actually when your body is most ready to thrive in the heat.

Here’s why:
1) You adapt FASTER
You’re already warmer + your body is already working with heat.
So you’ll often find you settle into the room more easily + progress quicker.

2) BETTER cardio + stamina gains
Training in warmer conditions builds heat tolerance → which improves fitness.
So when everyone else is dragging through summer…
you’re getting stronger.

3) Detoxification + circulation NATURALLY increase
Hot yoga in summer amplifies the sweating + flushing benefits what your body’s already doing. The heat becomes your ally instead of something you fight against.

5) You feel AMAZING afterwards
You walk out hydrated, glowy, clear-headed — and that feeling of “fresh + alive” hits different in the summer.

BOTTOM LINE. Don't let your consistency slip and all that progress you made in winter fall away. Summer can get hectic, for sure: BBQs, late nights, holidays, so let your mat become the anchor → not the thing you put on pause and “restart” in March.

PLUS: There is no better feeling then diving into the sea, straight after a hot yoga class! 🌊

CONSTANTLY GIVING TO EVERYONE AROUND YOU .. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU GAVE SOMETHING TO YOURSELF?

Between work deadlines, family dinners, and the never-ending to-do list, you barely have time to breathe — let alone pause. You know the things that would help. Walking in nature. Meditating. Switching off your phone. Going to bed earlier. Sleeping 8-hours.

All the things that you see on your social feeds, that you follow and like. But actually doing them? That feels IMPOSSIBLE right now.

Here’s the truth, you don't have to do it all. You just have to start small and believe that: 👉 You do have time.👉 You can do this. Because the truth is you need to — because you can't sustain things as they currently are, you can't pour from an empty cup, you have to refill yours - not only for those you love, but more importantly for YOU and your long-term health and peace of mind.

LET 26+2 HOT YOGA BE YOUR RESET BUTTON.
For 90 minutes, someone else takes charge — guiding you through breath, movement, and stillness. You just show up, breathe, and reconnect with you. The heat. the humidity, the dialogue, the group energy, the focus — it’s all designed to quiet your mind and bring you back to a place of clarity and calm.

Just ask Siggy, one of our students:
“As a mama with young children, just giving myself that time to come to class is huge. At first, my mind was a whirlwind of worries and lists. It took months to learn to park all my worries outside and be truly present. Now, that sense of calm flows into my everyday life — I can tap into it anytime I need it.”

✨ COME AND EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF
Get our Intro Pass — 2 weeks unlimited classes for just $25.
We promise it will be the BEST 90 minutes you give yourself all week.💖

🥰 CHECK OUT OUR LATEST "STUDENT STORY" FROM SIGGY

I remember Siggy's first class like it was yesterday. She came along with a friend and like most newbies was busy wiping away the sweat, looking around and in general just looking like 'what the heck have I gotten myself into'. At the end of the class they both shot out the room so fast that, I had to literally chase them into the parking lot to have a quick post-class chat!

What a difference a little time, patience and commitment makes. Now Siggy moves mindfully, breathes easily and rather than muscle and fight her way into the pose, meets the pose with where her body is at.

THE POWER OF A CONSISTENT PRACTICE.

26+2 Hot Yoga follows the exact same sequence of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises in every class. This consistency is intentional and central to the method’s therapeutic value.

Why the Consistent Sequence Matters:
🏹Builds Mastery Over Time – Practicing the same postures repeatedly allows for deeper understanding, improved technique, and greater mind-body awareness.

📈Measures Progress Clearly – With the sequence never changing, practitioners can easily observe improvements in flexibility, strength, and balance over time.

💡Enhances Mental Focus – Knowing what comes next frees the mind to focus on breath, alignment, and presence.

♥Supports Safe Practice – The sequence is scientifically designed so each posture prepares the body for the next, reducing risk of injury and creating a therapeutic arc.

🔁Develops Discipline and Routine – The predictable format cultivates consistency and resilience, creating a reliable structure for physical and mental growth.

☯Balances the Whole Body – The sequence systematically works every part of the body—muscles, joints, organs, glands—creating a comprehensive and balanced practice.

The sequence is more than a routine—it’s a roadmap for healing, progress, and transformation.

What an amazing week we have had.

First up, Birthday shout outs to Min, Harley, Daisy and myself, all of us who share our birthday on the 14th of October!!! How crazy is that, there must be something about this birth date, and love of hot yoga!

Then on Saturday I finally got to meet Mark from Evolation Yoga - whom I've been in contact with for over 6-years, with regards to Teacher Trainings. Mark incredibly got off a 25 hour plus journey to speak to us about the about "The Art, Science and Practice of Yoga". Keep a look out for when he will be speaking at our Studio.

And then finally... a huge thanks to everyone who joined us on Saturday night to help us celebrate Diwali. It was amazing to see so many of you share your love and energy with us. My cup is over-flowing and my heart is bursting with love and gratitude for you all. 😍🥰

Her four-decade-steady routine of simple postures, taught in a humble village studio, highlights joy in movement over optimization.

Beyond yoga, Chopin’s secret lies in strong social bonds, purposeful gatherings, and a grateful mindset—pillars that research links to longevity.

Our Story

Welcome to Kapiti Hot Yoga, we teach the original Hot Yoga series, 26+2 - made popular by Bikram Yoga. Made up of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, the therapeutic hatha yoga sequence is suitable for all ages and abilities. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints to give you a full body workout. Additionally, the sequence systematically moves freshly oxygenated blood throughout your body, stimulating the organs, glands and nerves, restoring all systems to a healthier working order and giving you a greater sense of well-being. Practised in a hot room, the heat is designed to warm up your body, providing a safer environment in which to perform the postures and stretch your body. The combined heat and humidity also promotes sweating which in turn flushes toxins from your body. In addition, the series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control that increase mental clarity and reduce stress If like me, you enjoy a yoga practice that not only gives your body a full workout but your mind as well you will love the 26&2 series.
