Forest + Light is a bespoke scent designed for

Fresh and uplifting yet grounding at the same time, this beautiful blend of New Zealand douglas fir, black spruce, cedar and lemon peel echoes the deeply healing aroma of being in nature. When creating this blend, each essential oil has been consciously chosen to help support a sense of balance and calm with a touch of inspiration.

We’re proud to have partnered with Kate from O-Studio Wellington who has brought something truly beautiful to Wellington - an oasis of calm with sauna (both communal and private), ice baths, massage and so much more. Just what Wellington has needed and has to be experienced!

You’ll find Forest + Light being used throughout the studio and during their many meditation, breathwork and yoga classes they have on offer.

Our new Autumn Blend is inspired by the heart of chai - layered spice, natural warmth, and deep comfort - created using only pure, therapeutic essential oils.

TOP NOTES
Green cardamon, ginger root - ginger brings a fresh, slightly zesty warmth, while cardamom adds a soft spice aromatic. Helps to ground anxious energy while keeping the mind alert. Ginger is often associated with “inner fire” - excellent for when energy feels low or scattered.

HEART NOTES
Cinnamon bark, clove bud - richer, deeper oils, anchoring the scent’s character, giving the blend its unmistakable chai warmth. Helps to promote feelings of warmth, confidence, and vitality and combat feelings of fatigue or stagnation.

BASE NOTE
Vanilla CO2 extract - soft vanilla rounds out the sharper spices and adds a creamy, comforting finish that lingers. Promotes feelings of safety and warmth.

Our first candle-making workshop for 2026 is now live with just six spots left. If you’ve been thinking about coming to one of our workshops - now’s your chance.

Come along and discover the beauty of therapeutic essential oils. Learn how to make your own signature scent using traditional perfumery techniques and then make a clean-burning aromatherapy candle.

This workshop is being held at the beautiful Wellington Apothecary, located in Cuba Mall and in close proximity to so many lovely cafes and restaurants. Enjoy soothing herbals tea and locally produced treats and come hang out with some like-minded scent lovers.

What a lovely way to end the year! I absolutely love receiving messages like these. Each candle, aroma mist, perfume is made by me with love and intention ~ and always with you in mind. Each scent has been carefully designed to have specific therapeutic qualities. Some blends come to me quickly and some have taken years to refine. A slow, clean burn…
Our clean-burning aromatherapy candles are where Poet started and we continue to produce consciously designed products without potentially harmful fragrance including natural aroma mists and essential oil blends.

What makes Poet candles clean-burning?

We use high-quality, therapeutic-grade essential oils for their beautiful natural aroma and wellbeing benefits.

Each Poet scent has been created by founder Melanie Morris, to support aspects of your wellbeing - whether it be to relieve feelings of stress and overwhelm, to promote joy and happiness or support vitality and focus.

Our candles are made with sustainably produced and clean-burning coconut wax which gives a beautiful, luscious slow burn for maximum burn-time.

How is coconut wax sustainable?

Coconuts are considered a sustainable crop due to the high yield and crop renewal per acre. Our pure coconut candle wax is non GMO and has no pesticides.

How is coconut wax clean-burning?

Coconut wax is just coconut flesh that has been hydrogenated - there’s nothing added to this process and you certainly won’t find paraffin or other petroleum based stabilisers present. Coconut wax emits zero soot particles, as the wax is petro-carbon soot free and doesn’t add toxic carcinogens (that can be present in waxes), into the air you breathe.

We also use cotton, lead-free wicks and recyclable or reusable packaging.

Our candles and aroma mists are refillable and we offer a nation-wide refillery service from our Wellington based studio.

We are a small family-business based on the South Coast of Wellington. We pride ourselves on our high production standards, ethical work practices and creating products that inspire the joy of ritual.
