⭕️ Some of us will be celebrating Thanksgiving this week. It's a wonderful time to get together with friends and family, to be grateful for what we have. But for some, this is a very difficult time of year. It can be triggering, we may be feeling alone, stressed, anxious.
⭕️ Holidays can be stressful. With a little mindfulness, we can direct our energy toward the good amidst the chaos. Here are some tips to help you through:
⭕️ Start your day with some breath work and yoga.
⭕️ Accept what is. Family can be tough and crazy. Someone will probably drink too much, not all family members would be your top choice for friends. So don’t argue with reality. You can feel frustrated, angry, sad, and resentful. And know that there are some things that will not change. Where do you want to put your energy?
⭕️ Allow the good parts to really soak in. Enjoy catching up with those you haven't seen for a while.
⭕️ Remember that it’s only one day.
⭕️ Allow yourself to take time out. Take the dog for a quick walk? Grounding can really help with perspective.
⭕️ Breathe. Make sure you are breathing into your belly. It helps your body and mind stay calm.
⭕️ Choose three things to be grateful for.
⭕️ Remember to be gentle with yourself.
⭕️ Lastly, look around the table at those around you, acknowledging the journeys each of them took to be here with you. Take a moment to touch into the infinite ways in which each one has added to your life: what you have learned from them, moments when they have inspired you, how they have colored your world in little or large ways—ways that no one else could. Reach your hands out to theirs, and give the ones closest to you a little squeeze, reminding yourself of the sacredness of connecting with another living being.
⭕️ Hum. Yes hum! Humming is your body's own Sound Therapy tool. Send your body, mind, and spirit some good vibes. Notice where you feel it in your body.
⭕️ Prepare your Body, Mind, Spirit with a relaxing Vibroacustic Massage. Or treat yourself to one for after the event to bring resonance back to you.
⭕️ Happy Thanksgiving!
