Grief is not just sadness. It's a whole range of feelings and experiences. You might feel numb and feel nothing. Or you might feel as if you will never stop crying. You could feel angry - with yourslf, with your loved one who has died, or with someone else, or everyone. You may feel lonely, or even relief. Sometimes it's relief that a person's suffering is over, or relief that someone who you had a difficult relationship with is no longer around. You could feel guilty, become fearful, feel depressed, unmotivated. You could feel rejected or abandoned, confused and forgetful, or just plain exhausted. Whatever you are feeling is quite normal. 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒕 𝑭𝒖𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒐𝒎𝒆 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒅𝒍𝒚 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒔 𝒂 𝒏𝒖𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝒍𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒊𝒏𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒔, 𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒍𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒂𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒏 𝑯𝒖𝒕𝒕 𝑹𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒚. Robert Sinclair has been a member of the Rotary Club for 27 years and a member of the Eastern Hutt Rotary Club for the past 16 years. He was also a past president of the club during the challenging time of Covid-19. Despite those difficulties, many organisations and individuals benefited from the club’s assistance that year. The support of Rotary continues under the leadership of new presidents each year.

𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝐸𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑛 𝐻𝑢𝑡𝑡 𝑅𝑜𝑡𝑎𝑟𝑦 𝐶𝑙𝑢𝑏 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑎 𝑝𝑎𝑟𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑙𝑜𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑢𝑛𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑓𝑜𝑟 60 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑎 𝑟𝑖𝑐ℎ ℎ𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦. In 1963, under the direction of Dr Graham Milne, the Eastern Hutt Rotary Club founded the Asthma Foundation and later on, helped formulate the Tinitis Society. Later on, one of its members Ian Wright, brought the idea from England and formulated Emergency Response Kits in New Zealand to assist troubled Pacific countries. Dr Swee Tan (a world renowned cancer researcher and plastic surgeon) is an honorary member of our club.

Made up of a dedicated team of volunteer business people and retirees, Eastern Hutt Rotary Club organises numerous events to raise funds aimed at improving the health, wellbeing and education prospects of local people, and improve the local environment.
