Guess who’s back for Year 3?!

We’re thrilled to welcome Michael Bent once again as a Guest Player for Teeing off for Hospice 2026 — a true local legend and an incredible supporter of Hospice Taranaki.

Michael is deeply passionate about the work Hospice Taranaki does, sharing:
“I have been through the hospice facilities and seen the amazing work they do. It is absolutely incredible the way they help those in need which is why I am always keen to show my support.”

If his name sounds familiar… it should! Michael has represented Ireland on the international stage in Rugby Union, taken the field for Leinster (Irish team) in the PRO14, the Hurricanes in Super Rugby, and of course, our very own Taranaki in the ITM Cup.

We absolutely love having Michael on board — and so do the teams! Not only can he spin a great yarn, but he can absolutely launch a golf ball down the fairway!

Thank you, Michael, for joining us again. Your time, energy, support, and passion mean the world to us. We're honoured to have you back!

Thank you, Paradise Valley Berry Farm … for the donations of Strawberries for our HospiceShops.

They are yummy, juicy, and delicious.

Thank you to our shoppers for purchasing these strawberries.

Because of you, we can provide: 24/7 nursing and medical care, support for whānau, loan equipment and care for patients in their own homes, specialist care at Te Rangimarie - all for the 254 patients we are caring for today.

Thank you, Taranaki
This year, many families have chosen to include Hospice Taranaki in the funeral or celebration of life for someone they love — sometimes honouring a request made before their person died, and sometimes a heartfelt family initiative. This is where the impact begins.

Because of these acts of generosity, our community has raised an extraordinary $61,404 in memory donations this year.

You may not always see how these gestures grow — a $25 funeral donation here, another there — but together they become something truly powerful.

And because of your kindness, we can continue to provide:
• 24/7 nursing and medical care
• Support for whānau
• Equipment and care in people’s own homes
• Specialist care at Te Rangimarie

All of this is provided free of charge to the 650 patients we care for in a year.

Every funeral donation made in honour of someone who has died brings real impact to people living with life-limiting illness, right here in Taranaki.

The money stays local, and so does the care.

To every family who has chosen to include Hospice — thank you. And to our wider Taranaki community — you truly are wonderful. ❤

What a fantastic day in Urenui on Saturday for the "Urenui Golf Club – Hospice Charity Golf Fundraiser". Fifteen teams packed the course, full of good humour, great golf, and even better camaraderie.
There were some very earnest attempts at nearest the pin — right up until a very young fella stepped up, “tapped” the pin, and showed his dad (and everyone else) how it’s really done. Moments like that are what make community events so special.
One thing we always appreciate is how genuinely the sponsors are acknowledged at this event, along with the gentle reminder to support the businesses and people who support our community.
And of course, a heartfelt thank you to Eddie Hollard, whose superpower is raising much-needed funds for Hospice. We are incredibly grateful that he continues to direct that superpower our way. This event raised $10,000, and Eddie has also secured seeds and fertiliser for another fundraiser he’s preparing for us — an extraordinary effort.
To the Urenui community, the Urenui Golf Club, Eddie’s family, and the whole team who stood behind this event in so many ways — thank you.
The funds raised on Saturday will make a real difference. Because you chose to give, we can provide 24/7 nursing and medical care, support whānau, loan equipment, and care for patients in their own homes. Today, we are caring for 254 patients.
Hospice care happens because of you. ❤

George MacArthur paused to place a message on our Tree of Remembrance at Farmers — a message for Marion.

George wanted to support what Hospice Taranaki is doing, and to honour Marion's memory.

“I remember her every bloody day… for the rest of my life.”

George shared that the extent of the wonderful work hospice provides is something you only truly understand when you experience it first-hand. “That’s what I found out,” he said.

Our Hospice Tree’s of Remembrance are a place to acknowledge love, loss, and gratitude. If you would like to write a message in memory of someone special, we have a tree at Farmers, Centre City, New Plymouth. You’re welcome any time.

Would you use these? We’d love to know!

We’ve designed a simple Christmas gift tag that reads:
“Bought with love for you”, “Chosen with care from our HospiceShop. Merry Christmas.”

If these were available in our HospiceShops, would you use them on your gifts this Christmas?

Your feedback helps us decide whether to roll them out across our stores - and we’d love to hear what you think. ❤

Thank you for shopping with purpose and supporting hospice care right here in Taranaki.
