Happy New Year! 😄🎉❤️

We are so grateful for the clients and their whanau that have come to Aroha Counselling Services this year. It has made the past 12 months more joyful and challenging, purpose-led and full of learning than can ever be fully conveyed. Thank you so much, from Heather and Otis.

Speaking of new things - over the holiday break my whanau fostered a 12 week old puppy. He's very smart, very gentle, good with kids, dogs and cats. Otis has been teaching him doggy manners and when to be calm and how to play. He has the biggest, floppiest, most velvet ears. The puppy has been an absolute joy and it would be great to see him in a good home.

If you are in the space and place and looking for a new puppy - would you consider him? He needs a forever home (or a new foster who will be home more than I can be) asap. Just contact me or Vada's Angels Animal Rescue (puppy 405, I call him Eugene!) and we'll be happy to talk you through everything.

We are so excited - our Tauranga therapy room is finally up and complete - and ready for action!

To celebrate, we are offering a 2 sessions for the price of 1 package!!!

We know that it can sometimes be hard to find the right "fit" in therapy, and that some issues just take a bit of time to work through. This 2 sessions for the price of 1 takes off the pressure of the initial visit and allows you the time and space to see if therapy and our counsellor are right for you.

Whilst we specialise in young people, anyone of any age is welcome to this special. However, both sessions are to be used by the same person (new clients only please) and cancellation rules will still apply.

Top 5 things a Therapist Says - Try Them Out!

1. It is perfectly understandable why you would feel this way. It's a very normal reaction to the situation.

2. How are you/will you be kind to yourself today?

3. You've said a lot about person x's feelings and needs and boundaries. I'd be interested in hearing what your feelings and needs and boundaries are.

4. Who/where does this voice in your head come from that tells you this (you're not good enough, you're lazy, etc)?

5. There are no miracles in improving mental health. But, all things are possible - it *will* get easier and the process of sharing *will* help.

****Half Price Counselling****

Aroha Counselling Services has just opened a new counselling centre in Tauranga. Our specialty is working with children, teens and young adults from the ages of 6-26 who experience anxiety, behavioural issues, family and friendship concerns, lack of self-confidence and self-esteem. We also work with adults who are young at heart and in mind too!

We are still in the process of launching our website and social media accounts, but that hasn't stopped people from needing a safe, comfortable and confidential space NOW!

So, we’ve decided to offer **HALF PRICE CONSULTATION SESSIONS** for the next four weeks. A consultation session allows the caregiver/parent to determine if counselling is the right place for their child, and for the child and counsellor to have a session in order for the child to determine if the therapist is for them.

Here are the important details to know:

- Zoom, after hours and weekend appointments available

- Consultation sessions include 30 minutes of discussion with the caregiver/parent and then a 30 minute therapeutic session with the child. If an adult, a full 60 minute therapy session.

- An email/letter will be composed of our findings and recommendations for you to consider when deciding to move forward with counselling.

- The price for this special offer is $100+GST, reflecting a 50% discount on our usual consultation/first session fee.

- Follow-up sessions will be billed at $130+GST for one hour with the child. We also offer a “Term Time Support” package, please ask for details.

- Our office is located in the Developmental Learning Centre in Greerton, off Cameron Road

- Our office is a very special place, filled with interesting, stimulating and comfortable furniture, toys and therapeutic games. It also comes with a very calm, friendly and cuddly therapy dog.

- Our counselling is performed in a person-centred way, with elements of play and drawing therapy used, depending on the child.

- Counselling is conducted by a Master’s level qualified, NZCCA registered Counsellor with experience in treating hundreds of children, teens and young adults.
