Have you heard about our Health Improvement Practitioner (HIP) and Health Coach?

Chester is our HIP and is at the clinic on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. Chester has an extensive background in addiction, mental health and substance use disorders, and also brief intervention.

John is our Health Coach and is at the clinic on Tuesday mornings and Wednesday afternoons. He specialises in nutrition, mindful eating, cooking skills and sustainable weight loss. He can also offer long term condition support with diabetes, hyperlipidemia, high blood pressure as well as stress management and parenting strategies. Bookings can be made on our website.

We have great news! HPV self-testing has arrived at SJMC!

For most people with a normal cervical screening history, they can complete a vaginal swab which will be tested for HPV!

Cervical smears with a speculum exam are still available for those experiencing symptoms or those who have had previous abnormalities!

According to the new guidelines, If you’re between 25 and 69 and you have a cervix, you will need to have a cervical screen every five years. Having a screen reduces your risk of developing cervical cancer.

Cervical cancer is caused by certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV). It is one of the most preventable of all cancers.
