Some moments speak for themselves 💜✨

Every message placed on the Tree of Remembrance at Farmers Whanganui carries aroha - memories, gratitude, and the names of those we hold close at Christmas.

When you make a donation and write a message for someone you’re remembering, you’re also helping Hospice Whanganui provide free, specialist care for patients and whānau in our community.

A beautiful act of love, and a meaningful way to give this Christmas.

Visit Farmers Whanganui to leave your message on the tree 🌿

🌿 Our 2024–25 Annual Report is now live!

This year’s report shares the stories, milestones, and moments that shaped our hospice whānau - from patient and whānau experiences, to volunteer impact, community partnerships, and organisational highlights.

At our AGM we also farewelled long-serving Board Chair Kirsten Bryant, and welcomed Jamie Procter as our new Chair and Dr Emma Davey as Deputy Chair. We’re grateful for their leadership as we continue to strengthen hospice care for our community.

💛 Thank you to everyone who supports Hospice Whanganui, your aroha makes this mahi possible.

This year’s limited-edition Holly bauble is more than a Christmas decoration - it carries a meaning close to the heart of hospice care.

Holly has long symbolised:
🌿 Protection
💛 Good fortune
💚 Resilience
✨ Eternal life

These qualities reflect the aroha, strength and dignity shared every day across hospice services in Aotearoa - and right here in Whanganui.

Pick up your Holly bauble at Farmers Whanganui, and know that 100% of every in-store bauble sold comes directly back to support Hospice Whanganui.

A small gift that makes a truly meaningful difference. 💜

Have your say | Draft Action Plan for carers

The Ministry of Social Development is seeking feedback on a new draft Action Plan for unpaid and informal carers - the people who support loved ones every day, often quietly, and often at great personal cost.

The draft Action Plan sets out priorities for recognising carers, strengthening their wellbeing, and improving financial security. It’s been developed with the Carers Alliance and organisations across Aotearoa who walk alongside carers and whānau.

There are many ways to share your voice, including community workshops, online workshops, written submissions or a quick survey.

Consultation is open until 12 February 2026.

The draft Action Plan has been developed in partnership with the Carers Alliance and an Advisory Group of organisations representing the needs of carers.

There will be multiple opportunities for you to have your say, including community and online workshops, submissions and a quick survey. This is what hospice care means to so many in our community.

Every bauble purchased and every message placed on the Tree of Remembrance at Farmers Whanganui helps us continue providing this care, free of charge, for patients and their whānau.
