Dear Patients,

We are writing to inform you of an upcoming increase in our fees, effective September 9, 2024. We understand that this is difficult news, especially given the current economic climate.
We have tried our best to minimize the impact of this increase but rising operational costs have made it necessary. While we recognize the financial strain this may place on you and your whānau, we are committed to providing the highest quality healthcare services possible.
We are truly sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.

Ngā mihi nui,

Tragically, accidents involving quad bikes have claimed the lives of four farmers across New Zealand in the last month. It’s a sobering reminder to look at what you can do to keep yourself and others safe on the farm, especially during the busy lambing and calving season.

Farm vehicle incidents are one of the top two causes of workplace deaths in Aotearoa and we’re working with WorkSafe to reduce harm in the agricultural sector. To help with this, WorkSafe New Zealand are urging farmers to focus on the risk of quad bike rollovers. Risk assessments of terrain and tasks, plus investing in crush protection devices, can all help reduce the incidence of injuries significantly.

We’re also partnering with Safer Farms by supporting 'Farm Without Harm', a system wide strategy and commitment, to help prevent physical and mental harm to our farming whānau. Safer Farms offer farmers a discount to purchase crush protection devices for their quad bikes through the ‘Safer Rides’ programme. While the initial allocation is full, anyone interested can join a waitlist to apply for this discount.

Stress and fatigue can also increase your chance of injury, so take a moment to assess the risk before you get started. Are the conditions and equipment suitable? Does it need to be done right now? Pausing to ‘have a hmmm’ can help ensure every farmer makes it home safely at the end of the day.
