We provide a 5-bedroom Young Persons Unit alongside our 20-bed care wing

We are a 25 bed Care Home situated 3kms from the Winton township providing a wonderful rural environment, we care for young adults from the age of 16 years old to our centenarians. Set on 4 acres and surrounded by farmland, we are a 20 bed resthome situated 3kms from the Winton township providing a wonderful rural environment with a dedicated team of staff. We offer long and short term care for young and old as well as respected end of life palliative care. Our activities and outings are many and varied and we strive to
accommodate individual resident’s interests and preferences as much as possible. Owners Darren and Vicky, both registered nurses, live on site with their children, providing a real family atmosphere they would love to share with you.

Today was very bitter sweet as we bid farewell to one of our amazing cooks, James 🥹

He is off to start an amazing adventure and we are so proud of him! But we really will miss him, and the love and laughter he brought to Rata Park 💛

‘Once part of our home, always part of our home’ - we look forward to watching you grow James ☺️

Our Waitangi Day was about connection, care, and community.

From creating shared artwork, to enjoying a favourite boil up, then spending the afternoon together watching the Winter Olympics on the projector — many hands, one home 💛

🚌 ❤️ The big red bus was out and about today ❤️🚌

For our first trip out this year, we went to our favourite spot, Riverton 💛 we stopped for fish and chips, then tiki toured through to Tuatapere for an Ice Cream, and through Otautau and Drummond to home.

Southland weather was at its finest 🌦️ Rain and cold treated us in Riverton, the fish and chips warmed us up. Then when we got to Tuatapere, the sun was shining and the jerseys were coming off, the Ice Cream really hit the spot 🍦

I was a bit slack with the photos today, too busy enjoying the trip out together, and listening to everyone talk about the memories they have in our own back yard. We all had an absolute blast 💛

Before our trip this weekend, we got our craft on again 🎨

Your loved ones were so pleased to make these personalised key rings. We’ve got a few people excited to keep their one, but most of us are excited to gift these to friends and family on their next visit 💛

We have had 2 very special people celebrate their birthdays with us over the last week 💛

Murray, fondly known as ‘bob the builder’ by other residents, celebrated his first. Murray is always keen to give a helping hand and never stops working. Happy Birthday Murray 🥳

Then our beautiful Beverley celebrated her birthday with us and family 💛 Beverley’s smile is such a genuine happy smile, you can’t help but to be happy when your with her. We just loved sharing your birthday with you 🥳

Today we’re shining the spotlight on Lor, one of our wonderful HCAs — and it’s extra special because it’s also her birthday 🎉

Lor is kind, caring, and quietly confident in everything she does. She may be soft-spoken, but her dedication speaks loudly through the genuine care she shows our residents every single day 🥰

We are so lucky to have her as part of our team.

We’ve spent the last couple of days putting our crafting skills back to the test 🎨🖌️

We are just chuffed with how our 2025 Rata Park Care Home scrabble wall art came out 🤩 every residents and staff members name is on it, plus a photo of everyone and some family photos too 💛

Everyone was spoilt rotten by our very own Santa yesterday. The love and donations we received helped make the day just that bit more special ❤️💚

We have a very special day planned for your loved ones tomorrow. Every resident has presents under the tree and they are all very excited to see what they get 🎁 🌲

For Christmas lunch we have a ham, turkey, and all the trimmings. We will be full and merry tomorrow 💛

I will share photos of our Christmas at the end of the week. But for now, we wish you a Merry Christmas, from our very own Santa and all the team at Rata Park, and we hope your day will be as special as ours 🥰

We appreciate all the donations and support you provide to Rata Park, and your baking is to die for 🤤

Our residents were spoilt today with some fabulous yummy treats, and there’s plenty more for Christmas tomorrow. If you haven’t tried Eden Southern Kitchen yet, make sure to put it on your 2026 to do list 🥰
