Māori Leadership and Science together for a Sustainable Future 🌱

As climate change intensifies, so too must our collective response. At Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi, we believe the answers lie where mātauranga Māori and Science meet, in the wisdom of whenua, whānau, hapū, iwi, and marae.

This month, we're bringing these worlds together at Koanga: Climate Change Summit 2025— a gathering that will spotlight Māori and scientific leadership in shaping resilient, community-led solutions for our planet's future 🌎

Featuring:

▪️Dr Chris Massey - Uniting Indigenous Knowledge & Geoscience
▪️Dr Wayne Ngata - Marae as Cultural and Strategic Anchors
▪️Jock & Victor Walker - Ūawa's Commuinty Leadership
▪️Whitiaua Ropotini - Restoring Rangatira Marae

Guided by their vision, and supported by Toi Moana Regional Council and Te Puni Kōkiri, this summit is more than a conversation; it's a movement.

Kimberley Spencer from Hurunui District Council’s Youth Team said it’s awesome to see this new half court come to life, providing a space for Hurunui District’s youth to connect, be active, and spend time together.
