🌸 Meet The Team Tuesday 🌸

Hi everyone 😊

I’m Nurse Julz, the Clinical Lead RN here at Wyndham Resthome and I really enjoy supporting the team and making sure our residents are well looked after and feel at home.

Outside of work, I love cooking and baking, spending time with my family, and going for walks or a bit of jogging as my “me time” to unwind.

I also just celebrated my one year here last March 20😅feels like time flew! I’m really happy to be part of this community and looking forward to more good moments together 💛

A big big BIG thank you to our volunteers Bev Howe & Jo Bowmar for organising a working bee!

Over the weekend, we had a working bee at Wyndham Rest Home which has completely changed the outdoor atmosphere.

As a small preview of the incredible work done, the first photo was from back in July 2025, and with the help of our awesome community they have been able to bring this section of the garden back to a beautiful area shown in the second photo.

We are so excited to have these areas looking as lovely as they do now, and it is all thanks to our volunteers - we would not be here without our community ❤️

We’ve had a few beautiful days in Wyndham this week and one of our green thumbed residents has taken the raised gardens under his wing! ☀️

Murray has been busy soaking up the sunshine and planting some cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage just to name a few.

We also want to say a huge thank you to our volunteer gardeners Jo and Bev who over the past couple of months have done an amazing job getting some more colour into Wyndham Rest Home - your efforts do not go unnoticed and we are hugely appreciative ❤️

🌸 Meet The Team Tuesday 🌸

Kia ora!
My name is Mackenzie Halbert and I am the Operations Manager at Wyndham Rest Home. I have had the privilege of being in this role for the past nine months.

I was born in Napier, Hawke’s Bay and moved to Dunedin in 2017 to study at the University of Otago. These days I live in Gore with my family and have really enjoyed being a part of the close-knit Wyndham Community.

In my free time you will find me reading, spending time with my family and going along to speedway.

If you see me around the rest home or the community, please feel free to say hello and kōrero with me!

🌸Meet the Team Tuesday🌸

This week, we wanted to get everyone more familiar with the backbone of our team, the home itself.

Wyndham Rest Home is a 23 bed home located in one of the many beautiful areas of rural Southland.

Our team are passionate and committed to delivering high quality care that we would want for our own whānau. We also have large gardens that we are planting nutritious vegetables and beautiful flowers in to help create that vision of home.

At Wyndham Rest Home, we offer long and short term care, respite and day stays.

If you ever want to have a look around or are thinking about the care of a loved one, pop in and see one of our friendly staff.

Love to see our gardens blossoming! We finally had a sunflower bloom, and our tomato plants are bearing scrumptious food for our residents

We continue to expand our vege patch to encourage our residents and embody our garden-to-table attitude 🍅

Each Tuesday we are going to be introducing our team members to you!

For our first Meet The Team Tuesday, we would like to introduce the newest member of our whānau Buddy.

Buddy has been with us for just over two weeks and is a purrfect addition to the team 🐈‍⬛ His hobbies include climbing up the legs of anyone nearby, bird watching, and ensuring the home has plenty of cat-itude 🐱

Festive season is on at Wyndham Rest Home with our staff getting into the holiday spirit!

There will be a Christmas Cake raffle at the Wyndham A&P show for $1 a ticket.

We would like to thank Friends of the Home for volunteering to do this raffle and donating the cake, we very much appreciate it 🙏🏻

The Wyndham & Districts Community Rest Homes AGM is to be held on Tuesday the 19th August at 7.30 pm at the Wyndham Rest Home.

Judy Geary is the Board member retiring by rotation, and is available for re-election for another term. We do currently have a couple of Board member vacancies, if anyone is interested in giving some time to sustain this local community facility, please email:manager@wyndhamresthome.co.nz for an Expression of Interest form. Everyone is welcome to attend. There will be a light supper provided at the conclusion of the meeting.
