This condition is known as an anterior open bite. The cause may be skeletal or muscular or a combination of both.
This young man was given a tongue training appliance and he benefited by it.
His teeth were restored to normal dimensions.

This young lady was distressed with her facial presentation. We got to work with her presurgical orthodontics followed by a bijaw surgery. This was followed by a settling phase of ortho.

Another classic by the dedicated duo of Dr Monir(ortho) and Dr Al Nabhani(ortho) She was unhappy with her side profile. She had already had ortho before.
We decompensated her and prepared for surgery. Dr Nabhani surgically brought her mandible forward. Notice the stark improvement in the lower third of her face.
Happiness all around.

A canine that was not erupting as it didn’t have the space to erupt. Space created and teeth aligned to get a harmonious occlusion.
Another beautiful functional smile created.

This young girl was not pleased with her smile at how her teeth protruded. She was also distressed with the fact that her lips did not come together at rest.
We decompensated her dentition and prepared her for the surgical procedure which consisted of mandibular advancement and genioplasty. The treatment included composite bonding. This resulted in a straighter profile and competent lips. Last but not least a very happy young lady.
