Aafiyaa Imaging and Diagnostic Center We are a specialized Imaging center doing Mammography and Ultrasonography. Mammography is a type of We do Mammography and Sonography.

We have a lady radiologist to do the scans. Sonography is for Abdomen, Gynaecology scans, Pregnancy scans, 4D scans for pregnancy, Color Doppler scans, Thyroid, Breast etc. We also do Teleradiology reporting of X rays and Mammograms

Color Doppler is special type of ultrasound which is used to check blood flow in the body.it is not a full color spectrum like a color television. Shades of blue and red are used to depict veins and arteries respectively. Along with this we also use a graph which represents the movement of blood in the artery or vein. This is used to identify abnormalities in the blood vessels like narrowing, blockage or abnormal expansion. For example in the neck, legs, arms and abdomen. It cannot be used in heart and generally in the brain because bones do not allow ultrasound signals to pass through it. You may near sounds during these Doppler studies . We also use this for fetal Doppler in some cases when we r checking for their growth

This is an animation of a vein with a clot. Usually we see a clot when one gets hurt and has a wound on the skin. There is some bleeding from the wound and then in a few minutes the blood clots automatically and bleeding stops. This is normal. When the blood clots inside the body, inside the arteries or veins, it is a problem. Basically a clot inside an Artery blocks blood supply to a body part. For eg. In heart it causes a heart attack ( coronary artery) , in brain it causes a stroke. When a clots happens in a vein it also causes a block. When it blocks a vein in the leg it causes Vein . U may have heard of " Economy class syndrome" . This is a Deep vein thrombosis(DVT) in leg veins after a long flight. In situations where u are immobile for a long time the blood in the veins can clot. Thats why on flights they recommend that u move your feet up and down to keep the venous blood flow good. Calf muscles help venous blood flow. DVT It can happen also after prolonged bed rest post surgical and some other conditions. There is leg swelling and then we do a Color doppler Ultrasound to confirm the clot in the veins. This is a treatable condition and should be treated asap to avoid complications.

This is an animated picture of veins in the leg. The left side image is normal veins in the leg. On the right side is a picture of varicose veins. This is also one health issue that we assess with ultrasound. Varicose veins is not an uncommon condition. There is prominence or dilatation of leg veins because of weak vein valves. So we do a color Doppler ultrasound to identify which part of the veins and valves are damaged, leading to the varicose veins. This helps in pre-treatment planning.

This is a video of a ultrasound. This is a special type of ultrasonography study which is used to study the blood flow in the body. Usually you see ultrasonography scans are in grey scale. However this study is in color. But its not multicolor like a television. There is Red and Blue color indicating blood flow. In this the is showing moving blood which is Red in color and Blue is the . This video clip is color doppler of the leg artery and vein which is called the artery and vein. This movement shows normal blood flow. We can check for blockage (Deep Vein Thrombosis or ) , arterial blockage, Varicose veins and other vascular abnormalities of blood vessels in the body.

I am going to share some info about Ultrasound, in the coming few posts. This is a special type of study which is used to study the blood vessels in the body, i.e. the arteries and veins. We use the USG machine which has a color doppler option in it. The scan is done like a normal sonography but its specific for studying blood flow in the body. I realised that most people dont know that except for the heart, color doppler studies of the entire body is done by us . I had my training in color doppler at London. Only heart dopplers is done by the cardiologist. All other doppler studies are done by a radiologist.

Its been 5 years. We overcame Covi-19 ! We all went through a very challenging time and lived in fear.
Few of us lost near and dear ones and scars must be healing slowly.
We r all blessed to have come out of those difficult times and still living and enjoying our lives.
