As I have said in the past the fishing the last couple of years has been different. Not really bad, but it has been much harder. The Billfishing has remained pretty much unchanged however the Dorado have been very hard to come by...last year just 3 Dorado all year and this year maybe 20. So we have been targeting Yellowfin Tuna much more than in the past. Dorado fishing is pretty much putting out some lures and just waiting for the fish to come to you...Tuna Fishing is a whole different thing. You have to know where they are, and then you have to talk them into eating any bait you might have. Sometimes Capt Chuy will fish with guys as a "Hired Gun " if you will to put them on the elusive tuna they can not find. The other day he went out with Brad, Vic and John just for that purpose. They started the day with a 60 pounder to warm them up. Then on the last cast of the day Chuy came tight on another Sea Monster Yellowfin Tuna in the 150 to 180 pound range. With a lot of moaning and groaning, sweat and tears the gang boated this giant and provided lots of Sushi for the next bunch of days. Come on down and tie into one of these monsters for yourself. Linda and Todd from Alberta, Canada decided to try for some Yellowfin Tuna with Reel Inn in Panama / Bucket List Fishing Charters Panama Bucket List Fishing-Panama. They got at least what they were looking for...maybe a little more!! It was Linda's turn at the rod and after a couple of nice 50 or so pound Tuna, she was expecting a strong fish but what she got was a Sea Monster...200 pound Yellowfin! This was the very beginning of an hour plus fight that saw all of us, including the crew, battle this giant! Come on down and join us for the fish fight of Your life- Bucket List fish are our specialty!!! Oh and for those of you battling the storms up North we are looking at the thermometer and it says a balmy 85 degrees F!! Not to rub it in...just to get you dreaming of that Panama Giant waiting for you!! OK so we are rubbing it in...just a little!

Most of my posts are about great fishing trips with Huge fish being landed by our crew at Bucket List Fishing Panama. Today's story is about the ONES THAT GOT AWAY! Our clients Linda and Todd from Canada joined us for a day of Offshore fishing...hoping for a Marlin or Tuna! Mid morning we had a BIG Marlin come up and browse the different lures in our trolling spread eventually settling on a pretty green lure made by Black Marlin Custom, riding in our shotgun position. We had sooped up this lure with 400 pound leader and a big Mustad hook with a Florida pin rig for holding a big fat ballyhoo. Off she went headed for Costa Rica & tore through the mono on our reel & into the Spectra backing on a Penn International 50 wide. Then the line went limp & she was gone. When we reeled in the now fishless lure we found the brand new heavy duty hook had straightened out, releasing the fish about 500 meters behind the boat. Check out the old hook compared to the new unused hook. BIG MARLIN!! Then after a couple of nice 30 to 50 pound tuna...we hooked an absolute Sea Monster of a Yellowfin Tuna...estimated in the 200 pound plus range. After over an hour fight, that fish also opted to be released to fight another day...not our idea!! Just goes to show that sometimes the fish just plain S***k us. Natasha & Adam ran from the bitter cold in Calgary & enjoyed some Fishing with Bucket List Fishing Charters Panama. Jack Crevalle & Cuberra Snapper were fun to catch in the Inshore Islands. Then fun at Seagull Cove Resort's Tiki Bar & a couple of nights in our Beached Bungalow! Fun, fun, fun in Boca Chica!!

Marcus and Michael from the US joined us for 3 straight days of fishing in the Gulf of Chiriqui. The first day was good with a couple of nice 80 # Yellowfin Tuna caught. That was just the warm up. The second day started out with engine problems that Chuy handled very well and they were on their way by 830. A quick stop off at Isla Peridas for some Inshore fishing produced a very nice Cubera Snapper. Then Offshore they went. First fish was another 80 pound Tuna followed by a flippin' SEA MONSTER!! A 200 pound plus Yellowfin grabbed a live bait and it was off to the rodeo. Three hours later four very tired men brought the fish on board the Dolphin Dancer!!This is a catch of a lifetime for our anglers...a Bucke List Fish for them. Please help stop the unnecessary dredging of 13 kilometers of Legally Protected mangroves in the Estuary outside of David & Boca Chica, Panama. This is against the law but money talks & plans to push this through. Please help by signing this petition & have your voice heard!!

This was a Sailfish Sunday!! We looked all over for Dorado, Sails and Marlin with no luck...then we found the Tuna...Good news right??? Nope..the tuna we found had lock jaw. It was a full moon, or they were eatin' something we did not have...whatever...The Tuna had a bad case of lock jaw! So off we went on another hunting expedition, looking for anything to bend the rods!! Frankie and Jenny were return customers and we HAD to find them fish!! Then Chuy saw a couple of Sails sunning on the surface...HMMMMMM!! They were not interested in our live bait so we just started trolling and it was off the to the rodeo!!! Sailfish after Sailfish seemed to be all hopped up to bite our hooks. We could barely keep our spread in the water when another Sailfish got hooked up. A few got away but we got two to the boat for release and our clients both landed their very first Billfish!! Congrads to both Frankie and Jenn from Alabama!!

The Billfish are biting well, and the Tuna are still here. Dorado are making their appearance some, but still not many of them. Come on Down and Fill that Bucketlist up!!
