The Stem Cell Institute

The Stem Cell Institute The Stem Cell Institute are leaders in the successful treatment of human diseases and sports injuries with proprietary Golden Cells™ adult stem cells.

Stem Cell Institute is the one of the world’s premier adult stem cell therapy and research centers. In close collaboration with universities and physicians world-wide, our comprehensive stem cell treatment protocols employ well-targeted combinations of autologous bone marrow stem cells and allogeneic human umbilical cord tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells to treat: multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, cerebral palsy and autism. To-date, we’ve treated over 10,000 patients. Two single-patient Duchenne’s muscular dystrophy clinical trials using our technology for harvesting and processing mesenchymal stem cells from human umbilical cord tissue received Investigational New Drug (IND) designations from the US FDA (IND 16026 DMD Single Patient). Since then, we have published phase I/II clinical trials in peer-reviewed scientific journals for multiple sclerosis and autism. We are completing another trial for rheumatoid arthritis and plan to publish the results in late 2020 or early 2021.

Today is — a day to recognize the millions of people living with rheumatoid arthritis and the daily challenges of chronic joint pain and inflammation.

As Dr. Neil Riordan explains in A Rising Tide, most standard treatments for rheumatoid arthritis focus on suppressing the immune system to ease symptoms. While these approaches can bring temporary relief, they may not address the underlying tissue damage within the joints.

Dr. Riordan’s research has explored how umbilical cord–derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may help regulate immune activity and support cartilage regeneration. These cells have been studied for their ability to release bioactive factors that can reduce inflammation and promote the body’s natural repair processes.

February is American Heart Month — a time to recognize the millions of people living with the challenges of heart failure.

As Dr. Neil Riordan explains in A Rising Tide, current medications for heart failure are vital in helping the heart work more efficiently and manage symptoms, but they do not address the underlying problem, the heart’s limited ability to regenerate damaged tissue.

At the Stem Cell Institute, our approach is focused on regeneration. Our heart failure treatment utilizes proprietary Golden Cells™—umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells specifically selected for their robust anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties.

Stay tuned for more research and content throughout the month highlighting the power of stem cell therapy for heart failure.

Multiple sclerosis care today primarily focuses on reducing overactive immune responses and inflammatory activity that damages myelin.

Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs)—including our proprietary Golden Cells™, are being studied for their potential to modulate immune responses and secrete trophic factors and bioactive molecules that may help tissue regeneration throughout the body, including the nervous system. While research continues to evolve, this dual focus on immune regulation and tissue support has led to improvements in observed clinical outcomes.

Stem cell science is often surrounded by myths — let’s clear a few of them up:

❌ Myth: All stem cells come from embryonic cells.
✅ Fact: At Stem Cell Institute, our Golden Cells™ are ethically sourced from post-birth umbilical cord tissue — with full donor consent and zero ethical concerns. We never use stem cells from embryos.

❌ Myth: All stem cells work the same way.
✅ Fact: Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) are distinct. Research shows they can reduce inflammation, regulate immune responses, and secrete factors that may help the body repair and regenerate tissue.

❌ Myth: Stem cell therapy just replaces damaged cells.
✅ Fact: Regeneration happens via cell-signaling — MSCs release molecules (like growth factors, cytokines, or exosomes) that influence the behavior of nearby cells and encourage regeneration and healing.

At Stem Cell Institute, science drives everything we do. Because understanding how stem cells truly work is the first step toward safe, effective healing.

Brad describes how, before MSC stem cell therapy, it often felt like his son Owen was in a storm and the goal was to help him find his way out.

Since treatment, Brad and his family have noticed more eye contact, stronger moments of connection, and greater responsiveness and understanding.

Every family’s experience is unique, and Brad’s story reflects one family’s personal journey with stem cell therapy.

Research continues to explore how mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may help modulate inflammation and support communication within the nervous system.

With 70 peer-reviewed publications, including international collaborations, our work stands on clinical data, not hype.

Every treatment protocol at the Stem Cell Institute is developed through a foundation of scientific and clinical evidence, and ethical standards.

This is just one of the many things that sets us apart from other clinics.

Daniel, a teenager on the autism spectrum, had explored various therapies, but his family continued to search for a path that offered real hope. Since coming to the Stem Cell Institute four years ago, his journey has been one of consistent, incremental growth.

Today, his mother Eliza describes his progress as if "a cloud has been lifted." Daniel is now more socially aware, making more sounds, and engaging more deeply with his surroundings. With the support of our proprietary Golden Cells™, Daniel has found a routine he loves in a place that feels like family, embracing a more connected life.

Osteoarthritis (OA), or degenerative joint disease, is more than just age-related wear and tear. It involves the breakdown of articular cartilage and the underlying subchondral bone, leading to joint pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.

When cartilage no longer protects the bone surfaces, movement becomes painful, often leading to muscle weakness (atrophy) and ligament laxity.

Stem cell therapy offers a unique, dual approach to addressing the underlying pathology of OA.

1️⃣ Profound Healing Activity: Our proprietary Golden Cells™ are produced through a specialized process that selects and expands mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from carefully screened human umbilical cord tissue to ensure consistency, purity, and potency. These cells have shown the potential to support the repair of damaged joint tissues and help regulate inflammation — two key factors involved in osteoarthritis.

2️⃣ Immune Modulation: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have a remarkable ability to help balance the immune system. Because inflammation plays a major role in conditions like osteoarthritis, this immune-modulating effect is especially important. MSCs work to calm harmful inflammation while helping the body maintain its natural defense and healing functions.

We have observed encouraging improvements in OA patients treated at our facilities, offering a science-backed pathway toward restoring function and reducing discomfort.
