Samhain is the sacred Celtic celebration that welcomes in the darker half of the year.
During this time it is said that the veil becomes thinner. Opening our ability to communicate with the Spirit World and those that have passed over.
It was considered a time of transition. As the harvest is completed and the earth enter her death passage. The lands turning cold and dark. A pause to re-nourish and rest before spring.
In this time people would come together, huddling around the fire to tell stories. To remember those who had died. It was a time to reflect on death. As they prepared themselves for the shamanic journey that a long, cold winter would bring.
As the veil thinned it was said that faeries could walk among the living. The Fae were known for their mischievous and tricky nature. Often kidnapping people and taking them to the sister realm. Some would never return, some would come back lost and confused. The Celts would give out offerings to appease them. They would also dress as animals and spirit beings to confuse the Fae so they wouldn’t be taken.
This is a powerful time of year to connect with the Spirit Realm. To make offerings to your guides, allies and ancestors. A potent time to candle gaze, opening your third eye to the invisible realm.
You may feel extra sensitive or energetically heightened, especially as this Samhain lands in the middle of an Eclipse Portal.
It is a great time to go inwards and take rest. A time to reflect on what you reaped in this years harvest and what seeds you would like to sow for the following year.
