I made a prayer to the jungle before our Intertwining Medicines non beginner retreat began a few days ago- “please show me a snake (in a good way) while we are here with this round of plant spirit medicine.” And the jungle delivered! 🐍
I’ve spent a lot of time in the Amazon rainforest over the years, and snake encounters are mostly rare without devoting an entire trip to spotting wildlife. The last time I saw a snake in the Amazon was 6 years ago as I was walking to ceremony and almost stepped on a coral snake who was casually slithering across the path near my dieta tambo.
This gorgeous tree boa made her grand cameo on a beam above our balcony on the second day of our retreat! We named her Princesa because she was coiled on her own little throne up there. It was a bit challenging for me to get her down, but I managed to gently remove her without landing a single bite (tree species can be a little cranky, but she was a sweetheart).
I knew all those years of snake keeping would pay off one day, and I can finally put my herpetology skills to good use here in the Amazon rainforest.
SerpentLacey found her way back home.
