Amaru Spirit Amaru Spirit is a detox and deep healing center outside of Iquitos, specializing in sacred plant medicines. This work is our passion and calling.

Amaru Spirit is a family owned natural medicine healing center located twenty minutes outside of the city of Iquitos, and is the home of holistic healing in the Peruvian jungle. In 2008 we began our mission with a single intention: to create a safe healing environment suitable for the restoration of the mind, body, and soul.

UC Santa Cruz has 33 acre organic farm on campus, where students learn the theory and practice of sustainable agriculture, from mixing compost to harvesting 15,000 kilos of strawberries a year. Slocum (with his two daughters assisting!) visited and gave a seminar to 35 students about jungle plants and their nutrients, and shared some of his favorite recipes. It was a beautiful (and tasty) afternoon, cross pollinating ideas from the Amazon Jungle with Northern California’s coastal farm land.
