Matt Booth is a web designer and developer based in England with more than 13 years of experience building websites that are both visually compelling and technically sound. His work spans UI design, design systems, front-end development, CMS builds, and eCommerce platforms, bringing together a strong creative eye with deep technical expertise.

Matt translates et al.’s surgical brand strategies into high-performance digital platforms. He helps ensure that the websites we build for surgeons, organizations, and partners across the musculoskeletal space are fast, reliable, and thoughtfully designed to support sustainable growth.

It’s difficult to make complex web development processes both approachable and effective, but Matt does so seamlessly. His work transforms ideas into purposeful digital experiences that perform. We’re grateful to have Matt as we continue building the infrastructure behind some of the most impactful work in musculoskeletal care.

What does it feel like to arrive in Pucallpa for a Scalpel At The Cross surgical campaign?

PART 1 of 3: In this video, one of our core volunteer scrub techs, Anne Carpenter, takes you into the journey of stepping off the plane into the heart of the Amazon to preparing for clinic and triage day, where countless patients wait with tremendous hope.

Volunteers work to triage patients, evaluate injuries, and prayerfully discern which cases are most urgent and appropriate for surgery. Patients often come to Scalpel with traumatic injuries, congenital deformities, or complications from prior procedures. These are often complex cases that our team members and Peruvian partners are uniquely equipped to tackle together.

This is not medical tourism. It is a long-term commitment rooted in partnership, elevating a community through skilled patient care, deep compassion, robust education, and faith in action.

This is what orthopaedic trauma looks like when access to timely, high-quality care is absent. Not just pain—but generational loss.

Through decades of sustained work in the Peruvian Amazon, Scalpel At The Cross has shown that this trajectory can be changed. By pairing surgical excellence with outcomes tracking and long-term local partnership, their model has demonstrated measurable impact—recognized through peer-reviewed publications in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

The data is clear.
The solution is proven.
The question now is scale.

Breaking barriers in orthopaedic trauma care!

Since 2018, the NorthStar Trauma Network has united multiple health systems under one coordinated model—delivering 24/7 trauma-trained coverage across 7 hospitals, retaining 100% of surgeons, and keeping complex care local.

The result: faster access, fewer transfers, and meaningful growth in trauma capacity where patients need it most.

This is a model worth replicating and learning from.

In global health, we often focus on the major killers—HIV/AIDS, malaria, tuberculosis. Yet what is rarely acknowledged is that orthopaedic trauma and deformity quietly eclipse them all combined.

Each year, approximately 5.8 million people die from injuries, with over 90% occurring in low- and middle-income countries where health systems are least equipped to respond. For every life lost, up to 50 more are left permanently disabled, facing loss of mobility, independence, and opportunity.

Orthopaedic trauma is one of the most neglected global health epidemics of our time.

Through decades of work in the Peruvian Amazon, Scalpel At The Cross has demonstrated that high-quality, outcomes-driven surgical care is possible in resource limited settings—an approach recognized through peer-reviewed publication in The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery (JBJS).

The research is clear - sustaining and scaling this impact depends on continued investment. This is where mission meets accountability, and awareness must turn into action.
